I wonder which of them were really up to chance in Horizons. Some were placed for sure, like the engineer bases. Not sure about the others. I also visited to few of them to have an opinion yet.I think the point he was making is that FDev took care to choose very nice positions for special POIs. All of those nice location choices have now been made redundant, and chances are the new locations will be dull in comparison, since it's purely up to chance with the new planet procgen.
Looks like someone tried to make craters on a melted strawberry ice cream, but only after hearing how crater looked. Not knowing himself.
The problem is, it seems their algorithm is picking one premade asset to place on a planet, then five places to put it.The planets benefit mathematically the same as always. the difference is that hand generated things are put in some places.
On the first, we all know about this bug, it is known that they are working on it.The problem is, it seems their algorithm is picking one premade asset to place on a planet, then five places to put it.
Also, the argument of "those things are all out there, commanders just have yet to find them" is such a cutesy way of excusing the deletion of years of history, simply because they didn't care to approximate continuity.
Thank you for reminding me we had more than 2 textures (fine dust or snow/rough) for the ground in Horizon. On the first, we all know about this bug, it is known that they are working on it.
About the CM sayings, annoying because they are upset but he did not tell any lies, there are beautiful planets out there and as an explorer I run into them continuously and constantly make comparisons. Here I leave you one between Horizons and Odyssey same planet locates with.

I can post random screenshot to, but that wouldn't be the spirit of the thread.View attachment 239877
A pastar
Always use that excuse when someone refutes you.I can post random screenshot to, but that wouldn't be the spirit of the thread.
I speak of ground texture, you post a screenshot from space. Where we can't see the ground texture, only a special one for space.Always use that excuse when someone refutes you.
U have amazing reflection textures in the growns in the video. anyway what`s your complain? all the textures are a huge upgrade from horizons, that`s clear water.I speak of ground texture, you post a screenshot from space. Where we can't see the ground texture, only a special one for space.
This entire thread does it for me, and you're just there to troll. Why would I bother ?U have amazing reflection textures in the growns in the video. anyway what`s your complain? all the textures are a huge upgrade from horizons, that`s clear water.
prove me wrong

You should be more amazed by bump mapping I guess. Also the Battlefield Earth camera angle. That makes all the tiling and LOD problems go away. This entire thread does it for me, and you're just there to troll. Why would I bother ?
That is a known bug and will be fixed. You should be more amazed by bump mapping I guess. Also the Battlefield Earth camera angle. That makes all the tiling and LOD problems go away.
In some aspect yes, in many, no. Better overall quality and resolution, much less variety, overuse of texture for fake rough terrain instead of actual rough terrain. Also bugs. That is a known bug and will be fixed.
On the other hand for you and Ereil (forgetting how troll I supposedly am).
Are the textures in Odyssey a big horizons update? Yes or no

The thread is about something that is in the process of being fixed.Yes.
But.
Thats called a "straw man" - this thread is not about textures which are fully loaded on ground.
And that means people can't speak about it?The thread is about something that is in the process of being fixed.
I never say that. And that means people can't speak about it?
Without this thread there would be no acknowledgement that there is something to fix in the first place.
Not entirely. We also don't know what is the extent of what Fdev consider "issues". For example the CM stated they don't want to do a planet re-creation, but we have core issues in the planet gen (like heightmap artifact, copypasted meteor crater, height variety...).The thread is about something that is in the process of being fixed.
