Newcomer / Intro New Player - Intimidated

There's really no need to rush. I suggest you try a variety of small and medium ships while your credits accumulate.

Landing on planets lets you gather raw materials for engineering, hoon around in the SRV, complete certain missions, visit crashed ships and see some stunning views. It's worth learning how to do but as always, there's no rush. Do whatever takes your fancy and don't get stuck on a self-imposed treadmill of grind.

Also I see a lot of people talk about landing on planets. What's the benefit? I've detailed mapped over 150+ worlds now...is there some extra benefit to landing on them that I'm missing out on?

Thanks man!

Nice views

...if you can ignore the old bug around light sources

and lots of engineering and synthesis materials to gather

edit: and right now, unless you want to bring along a SLF for 💩s and :giggle:s, I would suggest the Dolphin (as seen in the pictures above) as premium exploration vessel.

Yeah I'm starting to reconsider my obsession with the Anaconda. I WILL get one, but do I really need to rush into one right now? Probably not. I'm thinking I should get a Fur-De-Lance or Krait right now, and just grind credits/faction rep for the Corvette.

Either Krait will make a fine miner and give you a much more helpful view than an Anaconda, the Phantom will be a slightly longer ranged explorer than the Mk2 and both will turn much better than an Anaconda. Plus they are around 30% of the price.

Landing on planets can get you many of the materials you will need to engineer your ships plus access to helpful ancient alien technology.

The Anaconda is a great big ship. It looks big, it sounds big, it feels big... it really is big. It's not fast though, but if pushed hard, it is surprisingly agile for its size. It not only has the longest jump range it also has the highest firepower of all ships. I generally fly the medium and small ships but from time to time I love to fly the Anaconda and devastate HazRESs and CZs (especially to eat the Corvettes over there). In its combat loadout it still has a respectable jump range (40 ly) so traveling around the bubble is a breeze. Very much recommended!
