Newcomer / Intro New player questions

Hello! Great game! I am sure these questions are answered elsewhere and i will continue reading guides and learning from experience but hoping for clarity on a few things

My gameplay thus far has been completing the tutorials barring the final 3 incursions that i will return to, some CQC deathmatch matches and open play, i am on xbox. Admittedly i did not watch the videos. In open play i began my adventure in Dromi and took all the combat and planetary missions in the Sharur system. After seeing a few and supercruising right behind them, flying into a star, and being a bit confused in general, i have figured out how to scan the system and find my targets, mostly or at least somewhat, sometimes my pirate targets interdict me which is nice. My loop to scan then supercruise to anything blue, kill then scoop cargo.

I am confused about how to complete the liberate encrypted data missions. I see the sites on my FSS mode i think but not my navigation panel? Also the interact with hub access terminal is done from ship not srv? And yet i accrue a bounty when i approach these Raven corsair sites in my ship or srv and destroy their defenses.

I added a multicannon, ungimballed, to my sidewinder, and i tried mining but with just one lazer, a one slot refinery, and low cargo space it wasnt good. Is building a sidewinder for mining by stripping out the assist components and adding cargo space and a better refinery good or should i wait for a bigger ship? I am going to turn in my missions and do the travel mission that is assigned to me but dont know what losing district pass means.

Losing the distract pass means you can't visit any systems in the district again.

A bit bigger ship would be more effective at mining than a Sidewinder just because you could carry more tools.

Just because someone gives you a mission to do something doesn't make it legal, you are trespassing or breaking into someone else's property and destroying and stealing their stuff.

As @aRJay said, just getting handed a mission won't make it legal. You might consider sorting the missions to show only the "legal" ones if you want to stay away from legal consequences (if you're so inclined! ;)).
