New player requiring some assistance

Hey guys,

I am a shiny new Elite player. Like new to the whole franchise shinny.

I would really appreciate it if someone could throw me some links to game guides or offer some general guidance on how to get started in the E:D universe. My searching only found the docking tutorial (which was super helpful) and I figured out supercruise using what I can only describe as blind interface poking. But besides that I am having zero luck figuring out how to find something to do that will result in a pay check.

Example: I went to the federal distress beacon and helped clear off the fighters attacking it...apparently I upset the feds doing this because when their fighters rocked up they greeted my hard work with laser fire :S

Mainly looking to blow things up so if someone could point me in the right direction I would love them for days... hours... well maybe a few minutes but it would be a true and pure love... if fleeting.

Welcome Commander!

Welcome to the Elite Legend. Have fun, manage ship power distribution to your advantage and best manoeuvrability is accrued through blue sweet-spot usage. The combat scenarios are designed to help you acclimate. The links below should set you up nicely. Thank you for contributing to Elite.

Take care and Elite!

A couple of people have made videos, which may be of some help. I've quoted their original posts, so if you want to drop into their thread and say thanks or ask questions, you can. Feel free to Rep them if you liked them too - the small scales icon on the top right of every post!

Edit: If anyone is unsure of how to visit these original threads, the little grey arrow in the top bit of the quote will take you to it.

I have made a quick tutorial for the fellow new pilots in Elite:Dangerous on how to travel from station to station, including supercruise and docking and one about simple fighting.
Maybe they help, maybe not :).

No need to overshoot a super-cruise again :) ...This is a video for anyone having problems with docking or super cruise .. It may help ... I am ready to do more in-depth versions .. but this should help with docking and you will never overshoot your super cruise target again ...

BTW ... know your super cruise button/key first :) .. that's kinda important .. (You will find it in controls - under activate Super-cruise .. or some such :)

Happy flying Commanders ......

I made a brief video for those of you that need a bit of help with docking. It's essentially a walk through of the process I use to dock. Hope it help... :)

Mainly looking to blow things up
Hi GoatChops,

Hope you are are enjoying the game so far. At first its likely to be you against station bulkheads and oncoming ships but eventually you will progress to blowing them up with your lasers. :)

See you out there!

Once at one of the combat areas (distress signal or combat zones) On your system panel to the left, under 'functions' (It's not in an intuitive place right now) you get an option to choose a faction, once you choose you will see enemies as red so that you don't accidental hit the wrong side. This will also allow you to get credits for each kill (if you get the last shot before they die it counts as your kill).

This FAQ has most other answers to questions you might have:

Use the force...

Failing that, all the above links deserve a click, but where's the fun in that, and if you can get the hang of docking, shooting stuff is easy peasy.

Firstly welcome to the family - you're going to love it here!

Secondly, practice!

Seriously try the scenarios. That way you'll blow loads of stuff up with no worry about commuting back and forwards to the conflict points. You can restart at will and get lots of pew pew action.
If you need a slightly more mellow experience then log back in to multiplayer and rejoin the beta test party.

You should also have a good look at your controls list too. There are a lot of them, and you can change them to your hearts content.

Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for taking the time to read and answer my post! I have gotten a lot of good and helpful information out of it!
