New Screen for ED

Read some really good reviews (PC Monitors & TFT Central) about the Philips BDM4065UC 4K 3840x2160 40" 16:9, if you have to space on your desk. It hast a great panel, but it isn't curved.
Since it's 16:9 no issues with "old" games that don't support ultra wide and good to work on. Since it is 40'' you can set resolution and ratio to 21:9 - 3840x1645 with small black space top & bottom, should be equal to native 34'' 21:9.

Got one of these. ED looks stunning in 4K.

Have you had many people complain about the resolution you now record in?

Used to watch your videos, but as eye's are a strange thing i can't watch with those stupid black lines now on all of your videos.

My videos have been like that for around a year now. Had one or two people say they aren't keen on it. Had far more say they like ke it especially those with 21:9 monitors.

I highly recommend a 34'' Ultra wide screen. If you can afford it go for Free Syns/G-Sync.
I have a Dell u3415w (Revision A01) and it's a great monitor, add much to the immersion. It's like a windshield.
Here's my setup.
Powered by GTX970 running at 3440x1440 Ultra settings @ 60 FPS. 21:9 works really great with headtracking.

Nice setup. I really need to upgrade mine to one that has an x52. I still have my T Flight X and I doubt I can mount it to the armrest the same way.

The most important feature of the Philips, as far as Elite is concerned, is the one that doesn't get mentioned much: it uses a VA panel, so black actually looks black rather than the very dark gray of IPS panels.

You guys are making me want this.....I had almost settled for the 34" Dell.......Damn the lot of you ;)

I ran on 16:9 for a long time as my main rig was being overhauled. Now I'm on three screen surround at 5760x1200, and it is a world of difference. I did have some concern about the FOV though, which I've now set to the minimum, due to the "fish-eye" distortion at the far sides. It gets very annoying as things magnify to ridiculous levels and ovalise.

As a result, I'm considering a single 21:9 screen after following ObsidianAnt's videos for a long time. I think the reduction in width reducing the distortion, coupled to a single screen uninterrupted by bezels from three separate screens might work for me a lot better, yet still provide enough extended field of view to be a great compromise.

These new slightly curved IPS screens with 1440 vertical resolution are becoming more affordable, and also the pixel response times are coming within range of the low and mid range TN panels. Some of them, like the newest bleeding edge Acer Predator X34s, which have higher refresh rates like 75Hz plus, also have FreeSync and G-sync now.

Looking around, there are a number of good 60Hz ones at the mid-range price bracket that would be more than good enough too, if you aren't fussed about the aforementioned features.

I'm still mulling it over. As much as I'd love a Predator X34, it's very new, and pretty much alone in the market making it very pricey, and no doubt next year, rivals will pop up and a revised version from Acer... So I'm uncertain whether now is the right time for me to move from triple screen. However, for someone gaming on a 16:10 or 16:9, and wanting something more, I'd say go for 21:9 now in a price bracket you can afford.

gor one with a 6700k oc@ 13%, Elite Dangerous is just perfect there with a gtx980'ti, sort of dreading horizon that should be more demanding. ( the successor of fsx, p3d with all to the max is sometimes overstreching the video card )
