New series of tutorial videos: Mostly Harmless

Hello commanders!

One of my biggest complaints when looking into Elite Dangerous was that I didn't know what the game was. Sure I saw game play but it was never clear what exactly the point of the game was until I was actually playing it. Even now, I find that lack of a clear, easily accessed and definitive change log is quite annoying. To find out what was in beta two I had to go to PC Gamers website and read an article on it. But this is all aside the point.

I plan to attempt to put out some quality videos explain in-game features and functions for people that are interested in the game, but don't have enough information to justify a purchase.

I want to cover:
Recommended hardware(joysticks etc)
Ship functions
Station functions
Combat basics
and much much more.

But the most important video I want to make will be titled, "What is Elite Dangerous?" Which will explain in detail all of what Elite dangerous is and what it is about. The channel I will be uploading on is called Forlorn Drone

So commanders, how would you explain ED in a way that's easy for new players to understand? Please do post a reply so I can give a clear image of what the game is.

Also if you have any requests for in depth explanations of game play functions, let me know and I'll try to post a video on it.

Subscribe if you're interested in seeing these videos come out, I plan to start getting footage tonight.

Elite started back in 1984 as the great grandfarth of any and 3D Space flight games. Like many that came after the point of the game if you can choose what you want to be at the game becomes that for the player..
Privateer
Bounty Hunter
Explorer
Pirate
Cargo carrier
Military

Or variations of these. Elite allows you, the player, the chance to fly the heavens and pursue your dreams to see the galaxy.

"Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space." - Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe

This easily sums up Elite. There is a galaxy out there, buy, trade, fly, defend, attack,travel... get a bigger ship, a faster ship, a ship with guns, a ship with passenger beds, a ship with stellar mapping tools... you chose and define what you do, what you fly... you can even populate some ships with a crew with skills you need.

How will you earn your money? Trading, bounty hunt, piracy, passenger transport, spy missions, enter into galactic politics? It all depends on what path you follow, no one lays out the rules on where you will go, you just need to plan how to get there.

what is elite dangerous? :)
something like this, but to make videos about actual gameplay you need the developers to actually FINISH their tweaks and changes.

you can't make now create anything except recommended hardware and history, unless you want to remake those videos when gamma comes out, beta 3 will have new flight model changes, again, ship and station functions will change a lot until gamma and new ships will come in and after each ship they will re-balance all of 'em..

Well when you plan to cover a game that is in alpha, it is kinda assumed that you'll create new videos as updates and patches come out covering the patches, game play updates, etc. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough with my objective in my original post; but I intend on keeping up to date with that sort of thing.

And thanks for the note! I'll squeeze some of that into the video, its very informative.

Space trading, bounty hunting, booty stealing, rock mining and adventuring sand box game.
Multiple ship ownership and ability to upgrade the ships.

Ability to explore a HUGE dynamic galaxy of 400 billion stars (solo or co-op) inhabited by several factions. Player choices and actions will affect the "game of thrones" of those factions and its dynamic markets.

Able to raise in ranks and gain reputation based on your actions.

Multiplayer game with instancing (sort of like parallel but not universe) and every player affecting the galaxy. Because the "map" is HUGE some players might not see a human being in their system.

What is not: Arena/map like match making PvP game, MMORPG, other games

P.S. There is a lot more, but these are from top of my head what i think Elite D is.
