New ship: Gutamaya Corsair

Praise the big boink beak.

The front-end is like a Toucan.

I don’t mind the beak per se, (giant beak looks great on a Romulan warbird for example). It’s the location and size of the cockpit in relation to it that makes it look ugly. It looks so tiny and out of place sitting up on it like that. Might look better moved in front like others have e suggested but it’s still work in progress so we’ll see. Other ships also ended up having noticeable improvements from the initial reveals.
At the minute this ship is in the centre of a Clipper / Cutter / Courier / Eagle venn hotspot and I get chunky purposeful vibes from it. While I get the logic of what people say at the same time I like the roided up look it has.

I explore mainly in courier and clipper, because Gutamaya has best aesthetics, but that nose is damn ugly.

I can't spend arx on that, maybe when it becomes free I might use it, but no very ugly, im actually kind of annoyed because the rest of the ship looks amazing

they probably can't move the cockpit you guys, i remember them saying they design the ships with the idea of having ship interiors one day, probably the inside is planned already. i would like the canopy bands from the courier to go away though.
really excited for this ship, i love empire

i died a little when i saw the reveal, its something very different at least, i will get used to it because im sure its will be a great ship. :p
i like that it will have a size 7 thruster but i feel like small ships in general need to be faster than mediums. especially unengineerd, i mean a diamond back is like 75% engines where a python is like 20% no way the diamond back should struggle to keep up
really wished for a more courier-like design, hope i will get over it.

About time https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-are-discriminated-this-has-to-change.633864/

Something tells me this is going to be a great ship. Corvette propulsion in a medium ship!? Holy smoke. It's definitely going to be fast and have a hell of a load capacity. Maybe a little less than the T8, but definitely faster and more combative. Yes, the combat potential is definitely big too, look at that bow - that's where all the cargo or reinforcements go. They mentioned good jump range too, sco optimization that is for sure. It's hard for me to say how the Clipper will compare, but I bet the Clipper will be faster and more agile. Hope the canopy look / positions will change or... will go - if I were Fdev I'd make this ship totally innovative and unique like Imperials like. First ship with no windows, no canopy at all! Why? That is structural weakness, instead view from external cameras / augmented reality would be displayed on ship interiors like they were windows!

The thing looks like something straight out of Star Wars and not Elite.

Funny you should say that.

When I first saw the teasers for this, with a guessed outline added, I thought of this:-

And yes, mine will be getting a Midnight paintjob before being named the "Moldy Crow".

I'm still searching for my perfect multi-role ship having got a little bored with the Kraits ... and the FAS - whilst I love the ship - is just lacking in both flexibility and offensive capabilities vs the newer ships available now.

So this is interesting ... Medium? Check! Multi-role? Check! Centre seat cockpit? Check! Any word of the "strong hardpoint selection" yet? I assume it won't out gun the Python II (4L / 2M) but if it's 3L/2M like the Krait II or just 4L ... with decent placement? And good shields? That could be very interesting with the promised internal space for all the toys ...

Can't decide if I love or hate the look ... but either way, I think that's a good thing as it's an interesting design which is getting a reaction.

The Gutamaya Letter Opener... Got to say the first impression it made on me, even before the eagle beak thing, was one of those retro-futuristic art-deco-ish "charicature" drawings extrapolating off of the last generations of steam locomotives, tall and thin, with zero sight of line to the ground ahead, and towering over you as it barges down on you at ludicrous speed. :7
