New ship: Gutamaya Corsair

I still want one but I can see that lower C2 hardpoint being the bane of my existence … why is it soooo far back?

Hopefully it can pitch up enough for a 3x C2 Beam / 3x C3 MC setup to work.

Otherwise I might try 2x C2 Beam / C2 + C3 PA / 2x C3 MC.

Or maybe this is when I finally run with the “all frags or go home” approach …

Originally I was planning to set up the Corsair (when it's out of early ARXcess) as yet another combat ship. After all you can put a size 6 shield and dual size 6 SCBs as well as quite few HRP/MRP into the ship at the same time. But now I'm thinking, I already have way too many medium combat ships, and they do their job well. But what can the Corsair fit as well ? An awful lot of limpet controllers, cargo space and SRVs. So I'm thinking about turning it into a powerplay swiss army knife.
That is precisely what I’m planning: combat, salvage, rares trading (ok, that’s problematic …) and an SRV for helping with Odyssey content.

Because it's for a feedback cascade railgun/imperial hammer of course. Or any other fixed utility weapon. Or a mine launcher.
Railgun could be a could shout. Likewise a Guardian Mod Plasma could work there. However, I tend to prefer weapons in pairs but there’s no obvious other C2 for the second one.

* EDIT *

okay … we may have a winner … 2x C2 Long Range / TV Beams, 1x C2 Long Range / Cascade Rail, 2x C3 Overcharged / AL MC, 1x C3 High Cap / Corrosive MC … or go Overcharged on the Corrosive MC as well?

I’ve found the C2s on the sides of the Corvette to work reliably so would think the C3 on this would be okay? Hopefully find out later today!
You obviously roll so the target is in front or above/below
Cause the corvette left medium turret CANNOT shoot anything at the right (due to... ya know... the corvette hull)
The corsair will probably still be fine as long as people roll to have that forward and upward clear area.

This is again why the corvette is better than the anaconda despite the anaconda having better statistical dps. Because the corvette's hardpoint layout.
And why the mamba is better than the fer de lance, because the mamba has its huge hardpoint above and able to have a clear line of fire.

From what I saw in the previews the 3 large and 2 of the mediums will be pretty good for traditional combat motions (roll to have target above you, pitch up till aligned with target) with only the 1 medium hardpoint below will struggle to aim IF it is a gimballed weapon with a low projectile speed. But if you have a very flighty/twitchy/wriggly target that suddenly shifts lefr or right and your low projectile speed gimballed weapons on the left/right large hardpoints might struggle to shoot through the beak of the ship.

The design of the ship seems to somewhat try compensate this issue with THE BEAK itself. Sloped inwards creating the beak shape because it clears the firing arc for gimballed weapons

I am more rather gratefull for designer, that it was not decided to put one of its large hardpoints instead.
Single C2 at such position, aint is big loss of potential dps. For fixed weapons does not matter anyways, as overall converage is tight enough. Tighter than in most ships.

Due of being so far back, its not really gonna work well for full gimballed setups, atleast not in close range. But its kinda perfect place for utility hardpoint, and it should work for most of fixed setups, as its still more tightly packed, than cutter it has for comparison.

I gonna (and suggest) use this one odd hardpoint, purely as for utility weapons if paired with gimballs, like either feedback cascade rail or seeker launcher, if not using fixed.

It wont work. That single c2 hardpoint wont be pitching high enough for most of time to keep up with rest of gimballs, unless gained some distance to target, wich isnt close range.

Full frags will work, but as far as with frag bulids related, P2 is frag king... but given size 7 distro, and that speed, there is many promising bulids on horizon.

Full rails (both in SR and LR flavors), full PA or 3xPacifer with x3 rail, 3xPA with 3xrail, even full 6x Azimuth plasma chargers.
There quite tons of high dmg and PVP viable bulids, wich are all quite promising.

Most notable bulids possible are those of experimental weapons.

This ship is first high speed medium that can use 6x experimentals at once, and not being compromised by so, in defences.
Wich I can already tell by now, thats gonna it make no.1 AX ship, due of potential, by time is fully widely available to everyone.

To be fair - yes, I pretty much always position my target in front and slightly above the nose of whatever ship I’m flying.

I now have a Corsair Stellar waiting for me to login...
