New SRV?

I'd settle for a lighter variant of the one we have with 4 (smaller) jump jets and a stable flight mode.

Or at least one that can perform better on 50 degree slopes.

Hopefully, Core Dynamics will realize the pilots have requested 2 new SRV types, (dedicated combat and larger capacity storage), for a long time now and initiate the process of designing and construction of experimental models to be tested with final designs offered soon after. Multi-SRV use per ship may also be tested.\

Combat - \
Oversized powerplant
Heavier shield
Higher caliber twin guns
Optional 4bank missile rack

Prospector - \
Can only be fitted in fighter bay slot
6 unit cargo rack
Optional 10 unit tow-trailer
Standard weapons and shields
Standard powerplant

Need more guardian based stuff LONG before the 2020 "mega" patch / expansion. A guardian SRV / surface hover vehicle would be appropriate to more easily get around Guardian sites and into current/future Thargoid/Guardian structures. Honestly the most interesting stuff about Elite is the Alien ships and hybrid possibilities and Frontier is just ignoring that it feels like. The Ship Launched Figthers were nice but feel weak and boring after a bit.

Well, i'm all for variants, but i think you underestimate how good the SRVs are climbing slopes. On the current planetary expedition i've been amazed at how good they can climb. We've been going up some near vertical slopes. Its not easy, but doable.

Agreed, though optional ice tires would be good :)

As a long as it's self driving (it's 3305 and life is cheap - should be easy!), that'll be fine. So I'll be able to auto-undock, auto-SC, manually land (GAH!! come on FD!), and then be driven to where I want to go! ;)

Less seriously though, a four wheeled version would be nice (should turn better) with some re-inforced suspension for erm, hard landings.

I haven't even got any of the current guardian stuff. So I'm in no hurry for that. :D

The current SRV can turn on a dime, and take pretty hard landings. A four wheeled version would be less stable, as the stresses would be shared out over fewer arms.

No wonder Vodel went under. When they first released the Scarab they said they'd create other SRVs within a year, yet nothing ever came of it.

I'd also like a SRV that didn't do an exact 180 degree turn when you lose control, no matter the nature of how it loses control or what you do to adjust afterwards... its always 180 degrees. Go on, try it... its like magic.

Well, the variants you could make are pretty straightforward: A tank, a scout, a transport. So Core Dynamics does the tank, then Gutamaya does a scout in response and then Lakon comes forth with a transport to fill the gap in the market. May or may not involve interstellar initiatives. Oh, god, please Fdev, don't make us choose between them.
Gutamaya Landspeeder, Lakon Sandcrawler, Core Dynamics... Scorpion?

A more "tough terrain" SRV would be cool; maybe something that could handle slopes and topography better.

Uhuh.

We definitely need an SRV that can handle slopes better.

Spider Van, Spider Van.
Does whatever a spider can...
