New Third Party Tool

Hi forum

I have been developing some new Elite tools at my site, relating to BGS.

https://satsuma.rocks/

So far I have:

  • Boozecruise Forecast Tool
  • Stolen LTD Price Scouting Tool
These are dynamic, pulling data from EDDB and EliteBGS APIs in order to do interesting things.

I hope to create a generic price scouting tool for many types of commodities in the future, but I will use the stolen LTD scouting system for a while first to iron out any niggles.

The reason I wrote support for stolen LTDs first is, I do spend a lot of time stealing LTDs and it can be hard to find a good sell station!

cool tools!

as stolen market demand is identical to regular market demand, you could pull those prices if available and check whether station has a black market.

Hey there,

The purpose of the tool is to find systems that do not have up to date prices, in the hope that you can find good prices. If you just want prices that are already known, go to Inara.

So this tool does indeed check only those systems with black markets. And it tries to be quite clever about not sending you to ones that have governments that close the markets, unless the system has not been explored recently.

It does not currently pull the prices. It would be good to display the price for those systems that have been visited recently, I agree. I will have a look at that, next time I do an update.

I think it would be good to have a bit of help text to explain more when or why you would use the tool instead of inara! Edit: done

we had a bit of discussion and research on that some time a go: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...e-controlling-faction-inf.603905/post-9863636

basically the assumption of goverment types closing black markets is wrong, but certain goverment types make black markets less likely/unlikely.

hope it helps to make the tool even more clever - it for sure is very nicely clear in presenting it, so a great quick look up already.

That is very interesting, thanks for this. I have been burned so many times going to a station that supposedly has a black market but it's closed! This is even more insidious than I imagined.

I will have a poke at what the probabilities are and then include those for which there is a fair chance of opening.

I do appreciate this feedback. I want to get this tool solid before doing same for other commodities and situations, so it's much much appreciated.

I pushed an update to cope with this. I decided to fix by adding filters so the user can choose the behaviour.

I have fixed various issues today and now the expected numbers of systems are showing. The auspicious systems are aligning more with what is on Inara.
