I came here to ask that same thing. Get the plot-cinematics in-game. Let new commanders what's waiting out there, let old commanders know what's new.
Come on, FDev. This would be an easy win

I agree with OP... maybe not completely... but here is what I would love to see in the future.

These videos showing up in my inbox when logging in and I can view them in my cockpit with some fancy display. They should still post them on Youtube etc, but... hold that off for a day or two.

Attacked starports as well as this engineers request is actually in the game, in Galnet, which you can listen to, if you want.

I agree that it isn't presented in the game the same way a cinematic trailer is, but it would go a long way if these sort of videos popped up in our inboxes and could be viewed from within the game on one of those fancy displays.
