New Version of Cmdr's Log Available!

Probably a dumb question but is there a guide or manual for the tool. I get the basic idea but can't seem to find all the key bindings etc or a quick "how to".

Cheers

Jim

Spot on thanks. I knew it was a dumb question ;) Tried help button in an earlier version and I don;t think it had the key binds on. Did not think to try it in this version. Doh.

Great tool and love the fact it is manual input so you just log what you want to.

Thank you for your time and effort in developing this.

BUG REPORT
In the trading form, although 2.0b now remembers the setting of the 'System to System' check box, if the box is unchecked, it does not apply it to the From and To drop-down lists when re-entering the form.

In this state, pressing 'search', carries out an 'anywhere' to 'anywhere' search - e.g. ignores whatever is in the 'From' field.

I can easily work around this by checking and then un-checking ('again') the StS check box.

Cheers,
H

I've also noticed that when Auto Search is ON - then changing the system to system check, doesn't run the auto search - as well as the filters, these don't run the auto search.

ArchV1 - Can you NOT disable the search button when auto-search is on? then we can at least do a manual search

I hope you are getting some play time in Arch ;-)

Minor issue: the Journal window doesn't store its position.

Haven't played in about 8 days and probably won't tonight :/ This time it's due to me having to assemble some furniture.

I don't envy you!

All the more reason to take some time out to enjoy the fruits of your labour (labor) playing some ED + Cmdr's Log.

That would be great, although I must admit that since (re)posting that, I've discovered the awesomeness that entering pricing data brings for finding optimum trades :)

Something else: I ran into a minor problem with window positions today. At home, I have two 1920x1200 screens where the second screen is to the right of what I have set as my main display in Windows. I have Cmdr's Log open on that screen. At work, I also have two 1920x1200 screens, but here the second screen is to the left of the main display. When I start Cmdr's Log at work (I'm sure I'm not the only one who does that ;) ), it opens out of view on the non-existant right screen. This isn't so much of a problem for the main screen, I can just hit alt-space to bring up the Window's menu to select move and pull it into view. The subwindows however, don't have this window menu so can't be pulled into view. Any chance this menu can be enabled for the subwindows as well without too much effort? (seriously don't put too much time into it, worst case I'll just edit out the 6 pos lines from settings.txt and make it work)

(This was tested using version 2.0a, but since in 2.0b the settings look the same but are simply in a different file, I'll assume you haven't touched the logic behind the window positioning)

The best solution to this for in the mean time is just to open the settings.txt file (2.0b) and change all the "Window pos" looking values to 0. That will put everything in the top left corner to start with. Then you can move them from there. After that, just keep a different settings file between home and work.

Hey Arch... feature request, simple one this time. :) When you do a need/have search for a commodity and it brings up a search results window can you include the AGE of each result in a column. It goes to reliability of data, and if a result says "high supply" but it a long way away and 2 weeks old, I might just go for a closer one with "medium supply" that's only 18 hours old.

Okay, I'm probably being a bit dense but I've just got this and fired it up. I'm trying to add my first station and the application just crashes and restarts. Is there something I should have done first?

Could you add an Age column to the Systems & Stations list in the main window where it displays the age of the oldest commodity that isn't set to "none"?

It'd be great to be quickly be able to find really outdated stations!

Ooo that's a clever one. I like it! Although you probably do mean the age of the newest commodity. That way you are basically showing the last time you visited the station and changed something.

I like this as well - how about both - e.g. 1h/3d - not including "none", "not set" commodities. if we're curious we can always click the station and view commodities after that.

Hm...

Yeah, I guess then you wouldn't have to exclude "none" and "not set" commodities.

Maybe make it an option just in case someone wants it to display the oldest, but have it default to newest? Or just do what harag said.

I have a strange request...
Can there be a increase/decrease font size
(My monitor is great for games but slight small on fonts)

Unfortunately no. Sizing of any kind is one thing this app (mostly due to the API I used) is not good at. I'd pretty much have to rewrite the thing in a totally different API that supported sizing more directly if I want to change anything like fonts or sizing the window :(

Yeah I think we can do this. That window still has a bit of horizontal growth room before it hits the 1024 wide limit. We'll have to make the stations list alittle wider to hold the Age column.

a small (but irritating for me) one:

I have auto-search on but when I want to narrow the search by setting/unsetting the HS/MS/LS/HD/MD/LD checkboxes, the auto-search does not kick in.
It would be less annoying if I could just refresh the results by clicking on Search, but I have to turn auto-search off first.

Yeah all that will be fixed in the next version. Probably tonight.
