I would like to give them occupied escape pods. Maybe they use them as recreational drugs?

Fond memories of taking them out solo in a cobra with no gimbled weapunz back in the day. And they were always so polite. Can't get a cup of tea for a shilling nowadays. Nights are fair drawing in. Ix

I've put four X weapons on my FDL, big mistake. I dropped into a USS hoping to find Thargs, and found a pirate instead. 10 minutes later I was still battling with only taking out his shields once. They work great in very close prox, but not in a dog fight. Gonna trade two X for two Beams, because death.

My Cobra is outfitted for search and rescue, so weaponry is there purely as a last resort to ensure that I'm able to get out of there with as many survivors as possible. So, I've got three shock mine launchers (I was just curious if they would do anything:D) and 1 rack of the new ax missiles, hoping I don't have to use it *in character*

Battled a few thargs yesterday and today, killed 2 of them. We was in wings with highly engineered ships, still had several losses. I wouldnt do them solo, you probably dont have enough ammo for that even in ships with 4 ax-launchers.

Basically fighting them is done in stages, you damage their hull, if they start to heal their heart is exposed and can be damaged. Destroy the heart (subsystem, they have 4 of them). When all 4 hearts are down you can kill it.

Using a fighter to distract the swarm is almost a must have. Get a fighter bay with 2 fighters and launch the other one as soon as the first one is destroyed, otherwise the swarm will attack you. In each stage the thargs get more aggressive and have different types of attacks, lots of them corrosive. Bring heavy armour and a-speced life support cause your canopy will blow out most likely.

We always used wings , the most damaged ship dropped out back to the closest station and rearmed / repaired to come back to the station, while the best ship kept the session active. Will be real hard to kill a tharg that in solo. I got 3 million in pilots federation combat bonds for each tharg killed.

Not a single one attacked me.

They did warn me.. Turned red, deployed those drones.. But as soon as I backed off, and they gave some time for it, they turned back green. And left me alone
Why, because you have the 'mod' label attached of course. Whereas I have 'person of questionable repute' tied to me. At least in-game.

Jk :) about the former part anyway ;)

They work quite well, but getting it done solo it's not only hard because of the damage but because of ammo and how it can go away rather quickly, we needed 6 ships in total to take one down and I ended up at 40% hull.

Quite a fun encounter I must admit though I'd like them being more aggressive from the beginning and not just be bullet sponged until the second heart is out

Has anyone checked to see if Jameson Memorial has the new weapons, or are they confirmed planetary bases only?

So far at least, planetary bases only. If people would have stayed on the CG that might have been different, but we only got it to what, tier 3?

*casts a reproachful look*

There may be another thread for this which I haven't yet encountered, but does anyone know what the new Aegis CG is supposed to unlock? The Palin one said as you cleared each tier what new availability had been opened, but this one is mysterious and full of mystery

Maybe the countermeasures will be brought out, or the Type10 (crosses fingers). Also you have details on those missles? Ammo, cost, anything really.

Well, the 2 racks I fitted to my Python are class 2b, a load of missiles cost about 32k (8/64)x2

I don't recall what I paid for them, but they sell for 1,972,133 so someone who knows what the markdown is can figure the purchase price

Thanks for the info, im currently 20kly outside of the bubble flying back, im probaly going to make a custom built ship around the missles, and im curious to see what engineering will do with them.

Meh...someone just posted a vid taking a Thargoid down with a Beluga

I can imagine the Cmdr saying to the crew..."Hold my tea for me, stewardess...this alien chap means business!"

All of you with the sunglasses kill me. Is it too bright out there in the black of space? Do they darken your cockpit view when decelerating upon that star?

I know, they make the aliens look cool, and of course, they are "ray-bans", what else.

I any event, the CG's for weapons were not what I expected, but the rewards if you can find them are also not what I expected.

I guess in 3303, all atomic weapons were forever banned from the galaxy.

Nuke that puppy.
