New Zoo layout inspo?

I haven't played Planet Zoo in a while and wanted to get back in it again. I have many ideas but have no idea where to start!

1. I really like the idea of a tropical theme.
Any name ideas and layout organization ideas?

2. Anyone have any real-life examples of zoos or habitats that have good tropical/rainforest themed habitats and facilities?

3. What are some cool guest, staff and animal facilities I could include?
I have thought of gift shops, restaurants, an education center, reptile house, and research centre.
(I can't think of that many animal or staff facilities.)

Sorry for so many requests but I need some semblance of organization. I also have a hard time being in love with my creations and I really want to make a Zoo that will last awhile and that I can put a lot of effort into.

Thanks!

If you’re thinking of a tropical zoo and what you could call it I’d recommend starting by considering where in the world it would be. You can look at maps to find place name inspiration.

South East Asia probably has the best selection of animals in the game and you could realistically use the proboscis monkey. You don’t have to limit yourself to that region but you’d have a decent selection of locally found species. Central America is just about doable as is tropical central Africa but there are fewer real life zoos there to get inspiration from.

For layout I suggest having a look at real zoos in tropical areas.

There are a few in Latin America and the Caribbean (just a couple here whose maps I could find online, if you google zoos in whichever country you will find more):

In SE Asia there are a few including the famous Singapore Zoo which might be the most famous tropical zoo and the easiest to find information on.
You could even do a night safari which might be fun using all the different lighting possibilities which exist. Here is the map of Singapore Zoo's Night Safari.

I got you @Averill1rm…

Here is my suggestion for you…

Tropical Trails Zoo

I’m building an all animals zoo at the moment, and my tropical area is going to be called “Tropical Trails” (I haven’t started it since I want to wait until the next DLC hopefully with Capybaras and other tropical animals). The basic idea of the area is that there are different trails with different groups of animals. You can easily turn this into a zoo, which I actually thought about doing myself for a while. Here are some suggestions for different trails…

  • Congo Rainforest Trail
  • Hippo Trail
  • Primate Trail
  • Great Ape Trail
  • Amazonia Trail
  • Madagascar Trail
  • Indo-Malaya Trail
  • South America Trail
  • Central America Trail
  • Southeast Asia Trail
  • Elep
  • Indian Subcontinent Trail
  • Some type of bird aviary, hoping that will be a possibility

So yeah, it’s a pretty straightforward idea and I think could make a really cool zoo, or area if anyone else is viewing this. And of course you can take this as very specific trails or more general, whatever you desire!

Hope this helps!

I enjoy the bamboo pieces, as it's pretty versatile for any continent. Layout? Maybe start with Central/South America, move into Africa, go to Asia, and finally venture down to Oceania.
Or, maybe have a big plaza in the center, then put paths in 4 different directions that go to different places. 1 can be Central/South America, another Asia, another Oceania, and finally Africa.

Check out the Houston Zoo South American Pantanal or the Moody Gardens Jungle Pyramid (Galveston Texas)

Hmm, not sure. Try putting some staff facilities on the bottom next to each other, and then place a few more on top. Compact staff center, like what Lelka made.

Hope that this helps
