Newbie to VR

so still not working.

I am getting a "something went wrong, device cannot track headset" and onloading screens it changes my views...

I have a ticket in to oculus support but not sure what this could be?
Have you got sufficient lighting in your room? Have you tried a different USB 3 slot?

The only time I’ve had tracking issues it was due to either of those.

I have used a few different USB sockets

I do not think my room is too dark?

I am going to update now to windows 10 ver 2004. maybe that will sort something out. Oculus have also suggested i reinstall my USB port drivers.

I have also just ordered the i7-6700k chip just in case, but it is strange it worked for 3 or 4 days then had the issues...

I’ve heard other users have had issues with reflective surfaces in their rooms, and I tend to play at times when there isn’t a lot of natural light coming through my window - maybe that’s something to look at?

It is weird that it was working fine - any recent updates to your PC?

There was an update, but it didnt say what it was...I now have the version 2004 windows 10 update chugging along, that became available yesterday so will install that (currently at 16%!!)

reinstall the USB drivers, close the blind and turn the room light on and try again....

not a happy chappy

Aye, it can be frustrating when it doesn’t play even though there shouldn’t be any problems - several Oculus software releases ago my headset would only display the blank infinite grid with three pulsing dots, and the only way I could get it to work properly was to start the Oculus software while wearing the HMD (and I couldn’t take it off without it going wrong again). Another time, the headset would switch my computer back on after I shut it down - that was a USB issue.

all seems to be ok now.

I did a full delete of all software and saves and reinstalled from scratch. it all seems ok.

I have not re-installed Asgards Wrath as that is where it seemed to fall apart.

I have an i7-6700k coming next week and will try again then!

Quick question, what are peoples views on the Nvidia GTX 1660 TI?

I dont think my motherboard will take any later cards than this, and I can't seem to find a 1080 for sale anwhere now...

WAIT!!!!
Don't buy anything yet
The new 3070 is faster than the 2080 Ti and less than £600.
Prices are almost definitely going to plummet when nvidia release the 30## series and there will be a glut of 1080 Ti as people upgrade :)

Exactly this. There will be lots of used high end cards on the market. I myself am peddling my old 1080Ti. There's also word on the street that the availability of 30x0 will be slim, so again, wait.
