Cool. It's not there yet but I'm about 5000ly from there so not too important at the moment. I did buy a Viper Mk IV though and loved how it sounded as well as the reasonable jump range. I reckon when or if Thargoids come into play it might be a good exploration/fighter ship to go hunting into the bowels of the galaxy in! (sorry, maybe going off topic here...)

Update: Viper Mk IV has now arrived at Barnard's Star.
I got an answer to my ticket, and a Viper Mk IV is now sitting in Barnard's Star.
This was probably nothing more sinister than the Christmas holidays getting in the way and delaying things. Frontier did a LOT in December and they only have so many Oompa Loompas to go around.
While not perfect, Frontier is a damned sight better than most companies I've dealt with and certainly more responsive. I've never had an issue outstanding for more than 48 hours, with most fixed in under 24.

Well, I can see a LOT of players heading off to Barnards Star. Mine is over there as well. Thanks, FDev (I mean that in a nice way) for making us have to head out to get the ship, and I hope that it is a permanent fixture (in that, if you decide to Clear Save it is still in the starting assets, as the free Eagle is).
EDIT. Nope, it is a one off gift, which is a shame. Still, at least they have honoured their promise.

So I'm still a bit confused here. There's a lot of info flying around but some things seem to be skipped over.
1: There was a very recent Christmas CG in Santa Muerte where players ran it up successfully to Tier 6, which awarded "all new players with a set amount of time in-game a new Viper MkIV". Did these two things get confused?
2: Frontier promised, very explicitly, "One of Five ships once they are in game" which makes it very much sound like we would have had a choice where the free ship was concerned. Why even wait so long to give that choice or force one on us? Everyone who qualifies for this should be in Anaconda/FDL/Corvette territory by now.
3: Can someone link me to where Frontier said explicitly that the Vm4 was our "one of five" that was promised? When I bought into Beta it very clearly stated "1 of 5" and not "we'll give you one and you'll shut up and take it" in the advert on their website.
4: I saw it pop up in stored ships. Not even going to bother with it because I already have some sitting in Xihe.

The Cobra MKIV was promised as part of the Horizons deal, the Keelback and Asp Scout are 3mil+ ships, the Cutter and Corvette are end game ships.
Even if the game economy and the issue of player wealth are, ahem, in a certain state right now, I don't think it would have been fair to allow players to choose multi-million ships as a free reward. That only leaves the Viper MKIV as an option for the free ship.
