Next DLC Predictions

I’ve looked to see if there are any existing threads and couldn’t find anything but what do you think our next DLC will be? I’m assuming it will be released in March 2021 so we could be 6 or 7 weeks from release if it follows the pattern of every 3 months.

Put your thoughts here for what you realistically think we can expect to see?

it's actually been every four months, so if they stayed on that it would be April, but I think it is fair to say somewhere between March-May, putting one month either way in there.

There's the Sun Bear leak from the video data from November. Of course, that could be a ways off and even possibly never happen, but that's lead to Asia or some kind of rainforest/jungle release just based off that species.

there's also rumors several people have mentioned about leaks or rumors about a Desert DLC - but as there's never been sources or anything specific beyond that, I honestly think that's just the original person "wishing" that into existence - mind you not the people posting here, but wherever they saw that information.

As far as missing continents we're pretty sparse on Europe, although the Arctic pack could be considered both Europe and North America. If that's the case we're also kind of sparse on what is considered North American animals.

Finally the two most notable missing and highly requested animals both come from Africa. (see wishlists for that, but it's an African Rhino and Meerkat). That doesn't mean anything, necessarily, and I do realize that African is lopsidedly over-represented already, which kind of would put it at a disadvantage to be anytime soon, but yet, given the popular requests for them, they may do it anyways.

Things I doubt it will be - Aquatic, South America or Australia revisited - hopefully we get more of those animals but I think they'll knock out other themes first. I would be extremely surprised as well if it were something avian related. Not right after the aquatic pack. In fact, I bet they save that for the last 2021 release.

So to me, my thoughts are: Europe, Africa, and either Asia/jungle/rainforest as the pack. North America and Desert being possible but less likely. If I had to guess one, I actually think it would be Africa.

Rainforest/South East Asia
Desert focused pack
Europe
Africa
North America
And then Aviaries

Hopefully they all have more then 4 animals.... ugh probably not. And I don’t wanna get my hopes up for a marine or smaller critters dlc rn

Yeah, like already mentioned above the sun bear was leaked so almost certainly the next dlc will be an asian dlc or southeast asian dlc. They release dlc's on average every 17 weeks and always on a Tuesday. So roughly April 6th 2021 (give or take a week). Coincidentally South America dlc released April 7th, 2020.

For the love of god please give us more than 4 animals pretty please. Twice the size, 8 or 10 animals that's such a satisfying number 👌

I guess the next DLC will be released just before Easter, as they did last year with the South America pack, so that means end of March.

Because of the sun bear and the fact that both gharials and polar bears (the two animals more likely to get deep diving) live in Asia, I think an Asia DLC is coming next. The building theme might be focused on Southeast Asia, but I think the animal roster would be from Asia in general.

Although I want more Asian animals, they are not my priority, so if we end up having other pack, I won't be disappointed.

I don’t care that much for what exacly this next DLC would be, as long as we would get it on March. Most important animals for me probably won’t make it to the game anyway so I will need to count on mods.

I guess next dlc would be:
  • desert/scrub Africa - March
  • SE Asia - June
  • Europe or N.A. - September
  • Aviary - November

If I had to guess, I would say some kind of Asian themed or endangered animals themed pack based on the Sun bear leak. I look forward that guy, so I wont be dissapointed either way, but it is still alot of time before it happens, so I am just enjoying aquatic pack still.

That seems a pretty good order of releases, with the 5th one being the other choice of Europe or North America. I think it's likely these 5 will be our next 5 releases, in some order.

As for what the DLC is going to be, I have no idea, which in a way makes it more of a surprise and it makes the wait not as long compared to when we knew the Australia Pack was coming. I guess I'm gonna throw SE Asia out there with everyone else. Just a quick side note, I hope they add a SE Asian map (if that's what it is) and a Campgain level because I've been enjoying the campaign mode lately, as I just dove into it fully for the first time.

We should start to here news towards the end of the week of Feb. 28-Mar. 6 or the beginning of the week of Mar. 7-Mar. 13. The DLC should be released on Mar. 9, Mar. 16, or Mar. 23 depending on when they decide to give us some news. But regardless, in about a month from now we should have news of the update and/or the DLC.

I would bet on 30th March for the next DLC release date. Anything sooner than that would be a great surprise. It's kind of sad to realize that, if they keep their DLC schedule and we take PC months of support as a reference, we'll only get around 5 more DLCs.
Honestly I have no idea what the next DLC is going to look like. I don't really mind about the theme but I'm most curious to see whether they'll finally change their model.
I might be on the pessimistic side here but I doubt we'll see major changes for now. I don't expect more animals. I don't expect aviaries or smaller animals. And I think they might save the meerkat and any of the African rhinos for one of the last DLCs. The sun bear leak might indicate a South East Asian pack with Thai/Cambodian architecture, but it could well be some sort of Desert/Sahara/Middle East pack with tiles building sets or a European pack with Alpine and/or Bavarian architecture.

On a side note: there should also be another major update too. I don't know what to expect here either. More variety on exhibit boxes?

My prediction is SE Asia / Asia.

We've got the sun bear leak already, as someone already mentioned..

I can see the potential in a southeast Asian pack, but I feel like it wouldn't be the best timing for it as the next DLC. Every DLC beside from the Arctic pack got at least 2 habitat animals fitting under the tropical biome. The South American pack overall had a very tropical feel to it, same did more or less half of the Aquatic pack. I still feel like quite a lot of people are using a tropical map for their zoos, so it doesn't seem like an area people need new content to get inspired by at the moment. I think it would be good with a break from it now, so people doesn't get bored with it, without having something different to look into.

Not saying the next DLC shouldn't have any tropical content in it, but it shouldn't feel like the dominating theme. A southeast Asian pack would most likely only feature animals with tropical as one of their biomes. It would be more inspiring to see that at a later point.

From a biome point of view I believe either desert or taiga is the place to go. Desert got some love in the Australia pack but still feels very unexplored, we have a descent amount of Taiga content but not much have been added to it since 2019. It doesn't have to be biome themed packs, even though a Taiga pack could cover some of the most wanted European and North American species. But packs that at least partly holds some content for these biomes could be fun to see at this point, in my opinion.

I kind of hope for a Japanese themed building set, though I don't know what biome or continent they could link it to. Japan doesn't have much in the way of large animals (but the Japanese Giant Salamander as a habitat animal would be amazing!), but their architecture and art is unique and lovely.

But isn't the Asian building theme Japanese-ish? I mean, I hate being one of those people who put all 'Far East' in the same box but you can easily achieve both traditional Chinese and Japanese architecture with what we curretly have. Which leads me to what I've already said in various posts already. We're running out of potential building themes/sets. There are not that many building materials nor styles in the world. Individual scenery pieces? Hell yeah. But when it comes to whole building sets (walls and roofs on a grid) I can only think of 1) mesh, 2) tiles, 3) smaller flexicolor bricks and 4) some sort of flexicolor loose rock walls/roofs.

Well, a Japanese theme should be linked to the Asian continent. Packs usually have two main building sets, so if there's an Asia DLC, it could have both a South East Asian and a Japanese theme, why not? Building a Japan area in a zoo is quite interesting, since you can have bears, deer, macaques, giant salamanders, red crowned cranes, serows, red foxes, raccoon dogs, martens... if only we had those animals 🥰

South-East Asia: Animal Ideas: Sun Bear (Confirmed), Clouded Leopard, Siamang, Malayan Tapir, Malayan Horned Frog, a Cambodian or Thai Theme (March/April)

South America Additions Pack: Maned Wolf, Ocelot, Capybara, South American Tapir, Hyacinth Macaw, Military Macaw, Emperor Tamarin, Cotton-Top Tamarin, White-Headed Marmoset, Pygmy Marmoset, Black Howler, South American Coati, Green Anaconda, Fer De Lance (2022 October/November)
Australia Additions Pack: Tasmanian Devil, Red-Necked Wallaby, Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby, Eastern Grey Kangaroo, Common Wombat, Southern Hairy-Nosed Wombat, Lace Monitor, Perentie, Platypus, Short-Beaked Echidna, Emu, Brolga, Sydney Funnel-Web Spider, Spiny Leaf Insect, Inland Taipan, Frilled Neck Lizard (2022 July/August)

These are very unrealistic ideas but what the hell, its my imagination

As @Aramar says there are animals like Japanese serow, red-crowned crane, sika deer, wild boar and smaller species like the raccoon dog for example. And we already have the Japanese macaque and Asiatic black bear. I think the Hokkaido grizzly bears look a bit different but the grizzly bear is a close substitute.

I think the salamander is more appropriate as an exhibit animal.
