Next gen console update for PS5 And Xbox???

Is this game abandoned for console ??? I got it for console and is missing alot of stuff...is not like the pc version.
Are there any plans for future release of the same game as for PC to, also have it for next gen consoles im sure PS5 and Xbox has 100% to run this properly.
And i'm asking the devs here also the players: Does this feel fair to sell the same game at the price of the pc version witch is not abandoned? Why selling an abandoned game for consoles??? And asking that price for it??? WHY DOES IT HAVE THE OPTION TO GET ARK's IF THE GAME IS ABANDONED?
I got the game started to play and next few hours i got ARK's and discoverd that i spend money for an abandoned game!
THE DEVS SHOULD MENTION THIS IN THE PS 5 DESCRIPTION THAT THE GAME IS ABANDONED!

Then why the game if is not developed and abandoned for consoles is still available to buy and listed in the market?
To fool people to buy it? Because in the game description does not sey that further development has stopped for it.
Why is still available to buy ARK witch is the premium courrency in the PS5, for a game that development stopped and is not supported by the development and the company?
Is this a trick to fool or trick players in to still getting money for a product that is not actually a product just a leftover.
For example I got the game and ARK's to for PS5 believing that the game is the still the same as PC, well up least the market description of the game does not sey anything about the fact that is a game that's not complete. There is no way of refound the money and Sony after a few email's trying to refound told me to contact Frontier to get me refound.
Is a whole problematic and unpleasant experience witch makes me to believe that it was rong for the devs to still leave the game listed in the market of PS5 and that being so up least put that in the description of the game.
Atm I don't iven know who to talk with to get me money back cuz I wanna play the actual version of the game witch atm I can't cuz console version does not let me to. And i had to pay twice because I had to buy the game for PC as well now and puts me in to a rough spot with BELIEVING FRONTIER AND THE DEVS with they're bad practices of scamming people in to buying an abandoned GAME!
Frontier needs to change the Sony game description in the market to let people know who wanna get the game that works on an older version and is not updated anymore. This is bad marketing tactic and feels like a scam if it stays that way!

I'm afraid Fdev were trying to get EDO to run on last gen( which in my opinion was an easy get out clause) . A quick Google search would have shown the fallout from their decision as we were are/ still a vocal group.
The game as it stands is still good for thousands of hours game play( I started in 2016 and still playing ( with a 2 year break)) and there still are folk on console playing despite being dumped.

The description hasn't been changed on Xbox and would assume no one has bothered to change as there would be a cost and effort.
You could probably ask for a refund from the PS store ? ( Not sure how it works on PS )

When I bought the game I did not even know about or expected content updates and I would still recommend the game.

But don't get me wrong I also wish there would be a live version on consoles because after thousands of hours and no new content at some point you will eventually end up in a 'what am I doing with my life' situation and stop playing the game, like I did over one year ago...

There are heaps of games that are just in maintenance, servers are still running, cosmetics still sold, just no dev. Maybe not so many where there's a console/PC divide but it's nothing new.

It's not "abandoned" as such, it just does not receive any content updates anymore. Like many, many other games. The legacy servers are still running. By the way, that happened some years ago and is not a recent decision.

No, there are no plans, and there probably never will be.

You can still play the game, you can still explore the galaxy, you can still fight NPCs. It's not broken, there's just no new content coming.

It's a product that still works. You can play it for hundreds of hours. Nothing will stop you from flying to the center of the Milky Way and see the black hole there. Usually in our stage of capitalism, you pay for products. Sometimes with money (as is the case here), sometimes with your data.

You can buy cosmetics with ARX. Cosmetics work in the PS5 version, therefore you can buy them.

Yes, the description should definitely mention that with the PS5 version, you can't participate in the "live" version of the game anymore. I don't know how the game is advertised in the PSN store, but you are right, that should be mentioned clearly.

Because it's a working product. Recently, it received some new cosmetics just like the PC version, IIRC.

See above. You are able to buy cosmetics with ARX. You can then use these cosmetics in-game.

They stopped development of the console versions, because the consoles are too old to run Odyssey. If there's a version of ED coming to consoles it would likely be for PlayStation 6.

Dev's wont be reading this, they don't get to set the message on Xbox, they develop the game, hence the title. Talking of abandoned games, go to you tube and look them up, there are people who buy and play abandoned games on steam where you are the only single player in the steam charts, that's abandoned, the Xbox and PS5 versions are simply static. They still get support for problems although understandably the PC version get the majority of attention. Do you think it costs nothing to run the servers for the Xbox and PS5 version. If ED was abandoned on PS5 and Xbox it would simply stop running.

While the "last gen" consoles are PERHAPS too old/under powered to play Odyssey and 4.0 *, the "next gen" consoles surely aren't and it seems like Frontier didn't even TRY to get them running on PS5 and Series X! .

Even though they have released plenty other games on the "next gen" consoles, including several running on the same engine as Elite, they "just" didn't realise the "live" game on "next gen" (yet?!) .

However even the now more than 11 year old PS4 and Xbox One, are still amazing consoles, still play many new games perfectly and could surely play select new content in Elite, even on them .

But anyway, even with the "last gen" consoles "only" having the "legacy" game now, we've mostly accepted that (although would some new CGs and bug fixes be THAT hard to give us now?! .) ...

Really "all" we're asking for (with our wallets open!), is to get the "live" game on PS5 and Series X! .

The "us" being those playing the "live" game on powerful PCs, which doesn't include console players and those with lower powered PCs, but ok! .

If you have a low spec PC or laptop then you could play ED with Geforce Now.

Yes, I think a reason they dropped console support is also cause of a limited budget.

Perhaps, but Frontier aren't the small company that many people make them out to be!
(Or at least, they're not a "one thing pony", with only Elite in their bag!)...

As mentioned, they have plenty other games, including plenty others all ready on "next gen" consoles, while they have published a small number of third party games - I don't see how a "next gen" version of Elite would have been the "straw to break the camel's back", when Elite 3.8 was already on consoles and was sharing the same background simulation at that! .

If there was a good reason to cancel then there was a good reason to cancel, it doesn't matter what that reason was, the end result would still leave us exactly where we are now, so I don't see the point of the point! They don't need to actually give us any reason at all, that's the entire point of them being the developer and us being the customers.

They as an afterthought brought out the console transfer which was surprisingly easy and have you a free copy of 4.0 . I did my transfer when it first came out 2 yrs ago ?
They could have done many things but they haven't due to not being able to due to any reason. The game is still good and playable once you ignore the idiosyncrasies of Elite .
Arx it's up to you but personally I stopped my monthly Arx buying when they upped the cost for Paintjobs tat that are at least 2 years old .
They couldn't even get cross play sorted before EDO and with no work only critical fixes for consoles we just have to accept it .
It's still the best spacey SIM game on consoles even after 9 years and you can get thousands of hours of gameplay, just nothing new .

But they still released a console version. I hear what you're saying but it's 2025. There's no more excuses. They can give console players the new ships, new weekly CGs, and new bgs. Allocate 5 devs tops to do it. We really aren't asking for much. Charge arx for the new ships I really don't care atp but just leaving us for dead is unacceptable. I am a console player. I'm not spending $1200+ on a pc that can hopefully run odyssey decent enough. All my other games I can play on my PS5. EVEN OTHER FRONTIER GAMES.......

They didn't release a console version ? We have a compatability update but basically it's horizons . The stuff that they were allegedly working on never came across to us.
All we got was the arx increase for 2 + year old Paintjobs, they wouldn't give us the twitch drops.
Now I totally agree they could put people on it but who covers those costs ?
Would it be worth it for them ?
Im not sure any company would put the time and effort in and not cover the costs.

So in Fdev's eyes console Elite isn't profitable. As much as it pains me to say it .

It's an entire game, the old game, Legacy, is not just the old Horizons minus Odyssey, everything is changed, it would be like porting an entire new game to console, if you think 5 devs tops is going to work when the entire dev team couldn't do it before, well dreams are free I suppose.

Of course there is. It is called return on investment. Try to run a business for yourself one day, will you. A console port would cost so much more money than they would ever get back. Plus, the time being spent on this would not be available for anything else anymore. Also, they would have to support those ports from then on.
