NFTs and Elite

Aren't the Cobra Mk IVs similar, in that only certain Kickstart CMDRs can ever own them? Though they can't be sold on, the "kudos" or status symbol effect is there.
Thee are plenty of exclusive skins too, I have quite a few for ships and of course the black & Orange suit skins from the Odyssey pre-order.

They are similar in the sense that if the right to apply them in-game could be passed onto another game owner they could be considered NFTs but they aren't unique to the individual (I believe some ship paints are) but might be considered an appreciating or desirable asset because they cannot simply be bought from the shop.

But the NFTs people are talking about are a different thing, each individual one is unique (like a car number plate).

The cobra can't be resold and speculated upon. Also, it's not unique.
NFT are unique, the item is not but they add a blockchain that make it unique. If you think about it, it's very superficial and dumb, but it's the truth of it anyway^^

The idea is that Cobra is unique. You buy it for 10$, then sell it to a dude who missed the opportunity for 100$. That guy keep it for a few years, and sell it for 1000$ because it's rare. Then, 10years from now, someone buy it for 10.000$ because it's almost historical at this point. And that guy feel like a snowflakes because he own a precious cobra which is totally unique.

That's an exageration, but you get the idea behind it. It's basically a speculative thing based on a unique blockchain and artificial scarcity.

Correct, I don't.

But that comes with one condition: I want my forum account gone. I don't think that is too much too ask, especially as an FD CM themselves told me it could be done.

So I suggest you take it up with them now and support me there, because I assure you, I will be happy to leave, once I know my account is gone in totality. Again, this was FD themselves telling me what to do, and was discussed at length some months ago with Paul Crowther following... Well I can't tell you exactly what happened but it is very amusing. I can tell you it would make you pretty angry with FD, though. Or at least lower your opinion of them.

Still have the DM chat with him to refer back to. This is not a lie at all.

Those are my terms to leave this community and if you don't like it, cope.

Anyway, I really won't be replying to you again now. I always give blockees one chance to apologise which you failed to do.

Don't waste your time replying, You are no longer worth my time. And yes, I know you feel the same about me.
First world problems.

I personally don't support deep monetization of a game beyond its sale price / microtransactions to support 'free' titles. Developers deserve to be paid and I have faith in the market to determine when a price is too high or too low (hence why I rarely bough stuff with ARX when I played...)
Bit of a contradiction there - ED isn't a game you buy, play, and are done with. It's a live service game, like most multiplayer titles these days, so despite (thankfully) not being F2P the business model does rely on getting some microtransaction revenue from players down the line. I think that's eminently fair, considering that the one initial purchase yields many years of free content and updates.

Other positive aspects of the ED cosmetic shop model: no loot box mechanics to entice the gambling-prone, no purchase of items that give in-game advantage (in fact, by enlarging your hitbox, some cosmetics actually give an in-game disadvantage, an unusual case of a pay-to-lose feature), no aggressive in-game advertising for shop items. To the extent people are buying cosmetics beyond the free weekly ARX, I'd say that is the market determining that the ongoing service is worth paying something for.

NFT is a sticker with 'I used my toilet' on it. What makes it unique is the exclusive imprint being done by dabbing the sticker gently in the toilet usage. This generates unique patterns - the so-called poopchain.
And because you're so dumb and gullible you should buy them off me so I get rich and you'll only realise the worthless piece of crap is actually not fungible at all - just not how you imagined it.

This is like asking. "How can we integrate Elite with a MLM scam?"

Just don't. NFT and Cryptocurency are scams. Some people get rich. Most get burned.

NFT's are trash scams and often heavily steal art that isn't theirs. I have close artist friends who had their work, their gallery scraped, and then uploaded to one of the more well known NFT sites, the same site which requires you, as artist and creator, to dox yourself to the thief who has stolen your work, to prove your identity. NFT's are trash and anyone who supports that nonsense should feel deep levels of shame.
