Night Encounters (Career Mode): Research Not Missing

From what I understood, one of the challenges for Night Encounters in career mode is that the research is missing and is a hurdle to building shops, rides, etc. But I just noticed that many shops, rides, and even coasters are available for me to use. Is this a bug I should report to Frontier or am I misunderstanding what the challenge should be?

I think the intended challenge with Night Encounters is building in the dark. It’s a pain. But it can easily be overcome by setting the daytime to 12:00. In this scenario you won’t have access to everything in the game, but, through research, you can unlock plenty of stuff to build a really decent park.
