Hopefully BST will be abandoned long before the 34th century, it's a ridiculous waste of everyone's time. Elite stations use UTC, which is a reasonable default.

I'll be honest and say when I first bought this game I was expecting a metric time system, and a tiny little bit of the geek inside of me died when I saw it was 60min/24hr system.

^^^^ Toyota at Burnaston run a decimal (not metric) time system which is why their shifts end at 4:18

Ps I hate UTC with every fibre of my being, its sodding GMT - based on the prime meridian.

Galactic Mean time

Frontier:Elite 2; Manual said:
...and are updated each midnight Galactic Mean Time (GMT). Galactic time was adopted
after the signing of the treaty between the Empire and the Federation. Hostilities between them cannot be conducted if one party does not turn up because they have calculated the time incorrectly.

I imagine it was hard enough to get them to agree on a common time, let along a single daylight sayings change to effect every planet, which have different daily cycles.

Someonewhere on Mandh A 5, deep in Imperial Space
"Okay everyone, Galatic Mean time is moving forward 1 hour"
"Why?"
"So the inhabitants of a small island cluster on Earth get an extra hour of daylight in the morning"

We have Daylight savings here in NZ but we dont move the clock the same way or the day date as the UK, even that would just be silly and be dayligh-spending(?) :p
