No Escape Vector Visible

Hi,

I've just flown too close to a Sun on my journey and I am trying to escape using FSD. It tells me to align to the escape vector but there is none! I have also made sure the Sun is directly behind me, as this is where I expect the escape vector to be, but still nothing visible and I can't FSD. I have seen escape vectors before now but not this time.
.
Meanwhile my ship is overheating at like 200% and my hull is down to 86%. I am now trying to fly as far away from the sun as I can without using FSD. So for the past 45 minutes my T9 has been stuck near this sun.
.
Is the escape vector bugged in current version of the game?
.
PS: Still unable to insert blank lines when creating a new thread on this forum.

It should be findable from the compass thing by the scanner.

If it's hollow the escape vector is behind you, if it's solid in front. If it's not rendered in the compass thing then it could be a bug.

Is there another star nearby? Not sure a close binary system would affect the position of the escape vector.

I checked the compass but it was still referring to my next jump in the journey. It doesn't change to point to escape vector. No other stars nearby either.

i have also experienced this a lot, i usually just point around until the ship gets too hot then i just stop, let it cool and retry. very annoying.

Sounds like a bug. You'll be in normal cruise a while trying to get away. I assume you've tried exiting and reloading the game?

I'm out of ideas at this point, sorry.

Yes tried relogging no luck. Plus I had to do a reboot of ship systems as most of my modules are malfunctioning from the last FSD attempt.
.
Not your fault, damn game is bugged. Amazed nobody else reported this. All I can do is loose my ship.
.
Wow you WILL loose your ship on this day, resistance is FUTILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
.
In fact the compass is now missing completely from my HUD.

All ships should carry sinks for just this kind of emergency.
Boost straight away with the star at your back. It will take a bit of time to get away.
Can you SC to a belt or another planet in-system?

Good to know. There are no planets or belts in this system. The star I am at is not even listed in the navigation window.

Can you bind hyperspace to a button and try to enter that? I know your hull is almost gone so it may end you.

PS - using Internet Explorer by any chance?

I wonder if it can't calculate an escape route for your selected FSD target.

Probably too late but my method of getting out would be to pick a good looking hyperspace star and take a bit of heat damage to escape. Assuming you have a bit of fuel and can limp to a station you should be ok as you don't need escape vector for hyperspace.

Have you tried aligning with your next system you're jumping to? Or is it obscured by the star? IIRC if it's not obscured you can jump to the next system even when trapped in the gravity well of a star. It's basically high waking out when you're masslocked by a python....only the python is a star in this case.

This is doable, and also extremely nerve-wracking. I wasn't a big fan of 110% inside witchspace but I did survive.

Unfortunately there was nothing in that system to target including the star I was marooned at. Any other system I would try to jump to would request me to align with the escape vector, which wasn't visible.
.
*UPDATE*
.
On my third/fourth relog of the client, the compass had returned to the HUD and was now pointing correctly to the escape vector. Plus if you relog I noticed that the ship temperature starts at about 30%(lowest value) and counts slowly back up giving me enough time to use FSD without overheating too much.
.
Long story shot, I managed to escape that sun and am no longer marooned.
.
Will be logging a bug for the escape vector. No worky worky!
