No Grade A Modules in Colonia bubble?

Is there any reason why you can't buy grade A modules in the Colonia bubble?

e.g. Shield generator, power distributor, thrusters etc.

Actually, there are some A grade modules in Colonia, like shield boosters or fuel scoops. There, actually, also can be found even some smaller A grade shield generators and power distributors.

Is there any reason why

I guess, this is supposed to symbolize less technological development of the Colonia region compared to the Bubble.

Historically speaking, module availability has always been intended to follow the local tech level and economic prosperity. Since Colonia is more of a "frontier town" sort of place, they tend not to have the highest grade gear.

For most modules, "B" is still pretty decent, but a lot heavier. "C" grade modules usually weigh the same as "A", but the performance isn't as good. "C" still performs better than "D", which are the lightest (of course).

It can be a hard pill to swallow when you're used to the best. I know. :)

Until your A-rated G5 engineered ship is destroyed, and then Colonia magically has the best modules money can (re)buy.

That secret supply of engineered A-rated gear is just there for insurance claims. They keep it hidden in the back of the warehouse so that people don't try to buy it legitimately, ruining the supply for those insurance claims. ;) :D

We haven't built the facilities that would produce them yet.

Jaques wasn't a big technological station, so didn't give much of a head start, and everything else has had to be built up since. Back when I first arrived, a D-rated Viper III or T-6 was the best available. There's a lot more than that now.

We're very close to having B-rated everything available (see the summary link in C64Fan's post), and A-rated in sizes 3 or lower, as well as certain larger key exploration and mining modules like fuel scoops, limpet controllers, etc.

(Realistically, with engineering, a B-rated module provides only slightly weaker performance than A-rated, so it's not usually a big deal)

Only real downside in colonia, is if u need the highest A-rated FSD available for a ship, the rest, is what it is, its a new place that is not at the level to offer what we would like to see, u can go there, but there is downsides to that, and this is one.

If it wasnt that way, the "bubble" wouldnt be as special as it is, colonia area would probrably become more populated with players, wich depending on ones point of view could be a good or bad thing...

I got there on my way back from SAGI A and traded my conda to a phantom since i was bored with the slugish performance it has, despite the long jump, and was presented with the fact i could only get a "B" rated FSD, so the trip back to the bubble was longer than expected, but as an explorer, was also a enriching one cause of the extra jumps, and alot of stuff on that route now is tagged with my callsign. :)
