Engineers No more grinding FDev please read

I just checked the steam reviews 9k plus postive and 5k plus negative. That's a really bad thing to have. In sales you never want a product to have more then 10% negative reviews. For all the White Knights how do you defend this? FRONTIER DEVELOPMENT again please explain yourself. Give us an answer one way or another.

I define this as I don't care about the numbers and I don't care about what you think is good or bad., I do care however at what frontier sais or does. is this answer the one way or the other?

You don't need to push players to go grind and force them to do activities, that's not what gaming is about, if they are fun, enjoyable and interesting then there's an incentive to go and do these activities. Most of my friends stopped playing because the grind is just over the top and ridiculous (simply not fun), 2-4 hours to find materials only to get a random effect and that's a big "if" you are lucky enough to get a decent roll.

I think frontier doesn't understand how players value their time vs reward, at least from my understanding they fail really hard on this level which is probably why so many players complain it takes too much time to grind because the incentive and the reward is simply not great or good enough.

I wouldn't call steam the most accurate place for reviews but the majority of player base come from steam average 3-5k unique players on a daily basis and the game score is below average since patch 2.1, that's just not really good.

One of the important things that frontier needs to understand is that if I have just 60-90 minutes to play Elite, I would like to feel that I accomplished something. Maybe I traveled to a planet and found a mineral I was looking for. Or blew up some enemy ships. Whatever it is, if I accomplish nothing in those 60-90 minutes then I am not going to be tempted to come back. This is why one of the most popular games in recent memory involves throwing birds at pigs. It is a completely ridiculous concept, but because you feel like you are constantly doing something you are tempted to keep playing.

get your cargo full of rates, travel from one system to another avoiding interdictions. before saying it is ridiculous think about your analogy as well.

so.. frontier needs to understand that you only have 60-90 minutes to play the game.... LMAO

hear that, frontier? you got it wrong!!

I think the OP has a point. Sometimes I feel that some of the game design options are uninspired.

They come up with great ideas like power play or engineers and then stick a grinding mechanic on the front end.

I really line the engineers concept, but scanning high wakes is not setting the world on fire and mining is dull. Surface prospecting is OK, but the rarity of some of the materials I need is turning that into a grind.

Maybe I'm playing it wrong. If so, Frontier should set out where they think the fun elements are in all of this and how long they expect obtaining the rare materials should take.

Brother keep on wasting your time in the grinding. If that floats your boat I'm happy for you.

Me personally I dont have the luxury of free time to dedicate in the rng farming. I am frustrated and disappointed that I cannot experience the upgrades like I did in Beta.

However like I have stated before I will vote with my wallet. I have to many commitments in life to throw 4 + hours into a video game.

I dropped around $150 close to $200 into FRONTIER for the game, beta and multiple copies for friends & cousins.

So for now all I can do is post my displeasure with this product.

this is fair enough. I understand your frustration and sympathise with you. this is how we need to talk instead of all these "FD should" and "stupid design".

Like it nor not folks... The OP's opinion is shared by the majority of the community. I'm one of them that agrees with him 100%. Until such time as FD does some much needed rebalancing to the whole Engineers Fetch Quest and Easter Egg Hunt, I'm out.

Plenty of other stuff to do in the game. The new mission system is very enjoyable.

And how do you work that one out when very few the ED community are actually forum active.

Not sure that is the best advice I have seen on this forum! Looking at the forums about 75% would stop playing and not buy the next upgrade! Our game would then slowly die!

Your talking about 50-100 people.

Nope that's 3-5k Concurrent players on a daily basis. And nobody is forced to grind. That is choice you make in playing the game. I havent even been to an engineer yet. I will at some stage, but I am about to go on an exploration expedition.

Engineers come out, and people seem to think and act like that is the only think to do in game. Must get materials, must get materials, must get materials, must get materials mind set. I sold some of the crafting commpodities I had in my hold the other day. Yep they are a bit rare, but you know what, I have years to upgrade my ship/s. It's not like these upgrades are needed for the next bit of content.

Lets put it this way,if I drive around in an SRV for an hour without finding that rare material I am looking for then Frontier has set the drop rates way too low.
And Frontier needs understand that most of us are older gamers, not high school kids with unlimited time. Thus, the amount of grind with Engineers has to be adjusted to be a lot more reasonable. Otherwise players are going to feel like they are locked out of content in season 2 and this will be reflected in the sales of future seasons.
