No Odyssey coming to Console? Account transfer then.

Thanks for sharing. Ok, loosing the touchpad would be a bummer, as my setup heavily relies on using all 4 areas of the touchpad as it multiplies the available buttons. A while back I got ED for free on the Epic Store, but probably similar to Steam regarding controller support.

I've asked the exact thing here. I didn't buy Odyssey on PC because I did fear this would happen. I do have a Horizons account on PC but, not Odyssey.

Hopefully this 'nothing to announce' doesn't go the same way as PS5 support.
If I could transfer my PlayStation 4 elite dangerous account to my New pc account, I had to build a pc to continue my Gameplay

I noticed this over on the Xbox forum. (Thanks to @BluesBlaster )

Also for those thinking of transferring if it happens:

For info Elite is on sale for PC at the moment over Easter weekend.

£17.99 (reduced from £29.99) (if you already have a PC account without Odyssey).

(or you can buy the base game for £5 here https://www.frontierstore.net/games/elite-dangerous-cat/elite-dangerous.html and then buy Odyssey for £17.99)

Cheers
And there lies one of FDevs biggest problems. The contempt for the PlayStation platform is there for all to see. Why was this only announced on Xbox forum!!! It should have been announced to both console platforms....

I suspect the reason is that Xbox is a small step away from PC, those players are more likely to either jump to PC or already have a gaming PC. Playstation on the otherhand....

In their arrogance, FDev have failed to realise a few hurdles in assuming EVERYONE who wants to continue playing Elite will happily move over to PC.

1. The cost of a decent PC capable of playing at full resolution and full graphics settings. Some people just don't have the resources to purchase one right now. Here in the UK petrol is getting closer to £2 per litre, amongst other greatly increased living expenses. Buying a several thousand pound PC is the last thing on many people's minds.

2. Some people don't have the knowledge for PC gaming and don't want the aggro of finding out. It's a mindfield when choosing appropriate hardware to get the best bang for your buck. If I go PC, I'll build my own with carefully selected hardware. Buying a ready made, branded PC is a rip off. You can build your own with way more processing power for at least a third less. A lot of people with consoles have never owned a PC, the difference is staggering when installing OS and software, they just wanted a 'works-out-of-the-box' solution. Then there's the cheat bots to deal with..... This is where this forum could pitch in with free knowledge.

3. Lastly, some don't even have the room for a PC with monitor, keyboard and mouse. Some just wanted the convenience of a console under the TV. Now they have to find the space for a PC, unless they spend 4 grand on a gaming laptop (which after a couple of weeks they'll be screaming for a larger monitor). As a side note, if you do go PC, only buy a laptop if you have to. They're not modular ike a box PC and can only be upgraded so far.

The question is, do you still want to go on supporting a company that has treat us like lepers for years, and have just shafted a large playerbase over big time by abandoning consoles. Do they deserve that loyalty?

There are plenty other games of the same genre that are way better. Star Citizen, Eve Online and No Man's Sky are a few to name. Personally, I'm done with FDev and Elite. I don't have the thousands of hours invested like some of you out there, but it was still time invested. I have an Anaconda that I'd got upgraded/engineered nicely (thanks to members of this forum) and I'd just got a vanilla Corvette ready to start the upgrade/engineering process.

As far as I'm concerned, FDev have burned their bridge and can now sit on it and swivel!

I7 with RTX 3070 costs £1700 ready made.
If you're claiming you can build one for £1140 I'd be interested in your sources.
Let's be serious here, you're buying a graphics card and there's no real way round that.
Right now the big corporate route is the way to go because they have contracts for graphics cards, from the manufacturer.
They are actually cheaper at this point due to that negotiating power.

You're looking around £700 for that graphics card. Add that on to around another £700 for the rest of the components, Mobo, CPU, PSU, RAM, SSD, Case (Through the pandemic I helped several people build machines on that budget who didn't at the time want/need to shell out the ludicrous graphics card prices, due to most of their gaming being stuff like Skyrim, so I directed them to the Ryzen 7 5700G as a stopgap until the graphics card market regained some sanity) and it's definitely doable for around £1400.

Of course, this is why the Series X and PS5 are more attractive to many people, going as they do for almost £1000 less.

I have invested over 5000 hours into playing this game. Spent nearly $1300 USD on Frontier Points/Arx through out the many years playing the game.

To be told that Odyssey will not be coming to console? Then I humbly request that I would like to transfer my account over to PC Elite Dangerous:Odyssey

Not just credits.

ALL OF IT, a carbon copy of my account over to PC. My full progression.
With my ships, their engineering, my credits, codex stats, ranks, materials, bookmarks, purchased cosmetics, my squadron trophies(not my squadron) and fleet carrier. All of it. My total progression whilst on Elite.
I don't care if i have to pay for the transfer.
This is not a ludicrous request either. It's a fair request by your player base.

Frontier needs to be flexible with their console players. If your not going to give us Odyssey then fair enough but at least give us the option to continue on pc with our accounts so we can pick up where we left off. I don't care about buying the game again... I'd happy give my money to my favorite game. Just give us the option to do so.

This should be with in a reasonable request from console players.

Hi, I filled out the form to Frontier to cross platforms to PC< can only have the credits, not happy with that but better than nothing. had an email back saying" We are currently in the process of assessing our platform asset transfer policy. They say they are updating the policy with no ETA when this might be. So it looks like I cannot even have my credits. Very unhappy.

I've done so before. Even built Digital Audio Workstations that beat Carilon workstations for less (sound interface is extra). I suppose it's what you know and where to go. How will that same PC for £1,700 stack up when you want to play games other than Elite, with full Ultra settings at 2K? Not far. And if you want to be serious, a graphics card is not all that's needed. A fast I/O is required for loading dexture data in realtime and so on. Fast ram is a must to shunt all that data around at high speed, it's all symbiant. You don't think the extreme side of gaming would cost £10K plus for a high spec gaming PC if a £1,700 PC will do everything.

I've been building PC's for over 20 years, never bought a branded ready made in my life.

So the answer is no you can't build it for over a third less.

I wish they would get a grip on whatever is holding this process up, people are going to start drifting off to other games (Star Citizen in my case) and it's going to get harder and harder to win them back, even if they want to. For me, if they start releasing new stuff into Odyssey before they confirm account transfers, they can do one whatever the answer on account transfers.

Yep, they told us a few weeks ago that all transfers are on hold at the minute while they investigate the possibility of a "better" transfer than just credits so in this instance it is probably worth us giving them a bit wiggle room as this could end up being a better option for us...

You've misunderstood. It wasn't 'announced' on the Xbox forum it was a response an Xbox user got when they contacted support.

No conspiracy there.

When things are so bad with ED you're driven to play Star Citizen :D

However, why would a PC player like yourself be driven to play other games due to the delay in console transfers?

I can think of many reasons why someone might stop playing ED for other reasons, such as poor communications, lack of information about what is coming, slow progress, poor performance, bugs, etc... but not something that doesn't actually affect you.

As far as ED goes I am a PS4 player. Until consoles got dropped I didn't even have a PC, but I figured that if the stars aligned and I could play ED again it would be via a PC and if not then I could play other games using the same equipment.

I have around 4000 hours in ED, triple elite, every ship, all the engineers (except Etienne Dorne out in colonia) a carrier, both Ram Tah missions, King and Admiral, which is why I have no desire whatsoever to do it all again.

I enjoy Star Citizen, but in a different way to ED, I find that they feel like very different games, other than they both have spaceships. I might be lucky but I have never glitched through my canopy, died falling down the stairs or been ganked whilst out mining, but there's time yet.
