Horizons No! over HERE!

I'm in the middle of an even, horizontal plain. I just used "recall ship". Now my stupid ship is Waaaay over there across the only gully it could find, smoking crack, like it thinks I can't see it.

There's a 50% chance I've already driven through that gully to get to the plains, so it's not novel any more, and the joke gets old really quick.

THIS! I find a nice flat plane so I can recall my ship. My ship goes and finds a mountainside with a 30degree slope and blocks the elevator. I just found you a flat piece of land the size of kansas and you pick the only hill on it? No, I'm dismissing you and recalling you. Figure it out! *looks at ground, shakes head*

Wait until it tries to land on some skimmers. Or in a hole, so it blows up. Then you can really complain.

I agree it tends to land a bit far away. I'm just happy if it lands in one piece, though.

You'd think that since the docking computer takes up enough space for an SRV hanger, it'd be something more than an old commodore 64.

Well, according to SJA, the AI has a range of about 25 km. But there is no need for the bloody thing to proof it time after time.

Great picture btw :D

@Red Anders: LOL! I love how it appears nose-first! :D

I only tried this twice with a Cobra Mk.III and it seemed to work fine. Seems it is still "EXPERIMENTAL - USE AT OWN RISK".

I ended up having to log into non-Horizons elite and spawn back in space to sort that out, tried it about five times in all and it came in like a lawn dart every time but it wasn't actually blowing up, I think the game glitched out and it was techically never really there - every time I logged out it let me call it in again with the same result. Was pretty funny. 250m credit exploration Anaconda full of engineered gear that, I almost lost my mind the first time it happened :D

Try barnacle hunting, which are usually at the bottom of narrow, very steep gorges, and then try recalling your ship, after the 6th attempt you start to wonder if you'll get your ship back at all... Best to stay within the 2km range of your ship if there is any doubt about getting your ship back down again...

PS remember to recover to orbit (by switching to Elite Dangerous game version and then back to Horizons) if you can't get your ship back...

Whatever you do, if you raid the base at Mitterland Hollow, you need to land at the bottom of the gigantic mountain the base is on.
And drive up. It's about 5km drive.

Do not assume that recalling your ship will put it back in the only landable spot you found.

I dived allllllll the way back down the mountain.
Recalled my ship.

It tried to land on the base and got stuck.

I had to drive 6km over rough terrain to get the bloody thing to despawn.
