No plans to move.

Steam should have full support (but might only work for games launched from Steam, I haven't checked).

As for working wirelessly, doesn't it require bluetooth? I don't think many PC motherboards have native support. (Although, to be frank, I actually don't know how console controllers communicate wirelessly. I assume it's bluetooth, but I haven't checked.)
Yeah, it uses Bluetooth - I was working on the assumption that it's a standard feature on PCs though.

Not that I have followed motherboard technology very closely, but at least up until very recently the vast majority of cheaper motherboards didn't have integrated wifi nor bluetooth (wifi being probably more likely to be supported than bluetooth), although that might have changed in the recent couple of years.

Bluetooth USB dongles are cheap but (AFAIK) relatively unreliable. (I suppose it depends on how they are physically positioned.) I don't know what technology the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 (actual name) uses, but it has worked very well in my case.

It seems that Fdev is trying harder and harder to end this game. FC do not jump correctly, and system and squadron chat does not work. It was nice to hit o7 to see who was online to meet new players. All the work we did to support our 21 systems had been destroyed, and it kills me to see what is going on. Our squadron was all PS and we enjoyed BGS. Just the other day one our members who is 65, and has not been on in some time, and was crushed to find out what has been done and everyone leaving. I think that everyone is giving it one last push to stay in contact, but that last update wrecked the game. The sad part is that ED is still for sale, and I meet new players all the time. I have been giving money away, left and right to help support the community. How can they even sell this? SMH

In fact, it’s all comes down to that point, myself and others was all the way up couriers about the mishandling of the consoles, we had so many discussion with the hardcore Fdev fans and all things what we had predicted has happens. We knew after the disaster of release and the delay of release for consoles that the consoles will dying, no body believe this. Till the moment the cancellation was proven, therefore back to this day I claimed that they should delete the trailers for EDO from Sonys and Xbox YouTube account, and made up the game cheapier constantly.

I mean you can barely feel, that elite is running on bare bone to them, I play it on PC and gosh, there are so many bugs, it’s hard to stay calm and begging again for better support. As an example the salvage missions are mostly bugged, you couldn’t solved them on the intended way.

But hey let’s be quite about performance patches and bug fixing, bring up updates full packed with new bugs so just we can forget them too, till the moment elite is in the same way damaged and crashed like on consoles. I don’t blame the CM‘s and devs, but you can feel it that they pocket for money is small.

Totally agree - the fact that it is still for sale on the PlayStation Store is really irresponsible of FDev. What sort of experience is any new player going to have with the game in this state and being missold as living?!
Yeh it's a fair point. I wouldn't be surprised if legacy mode gets shut down eventually or maybe because it's literally very little work it will just limp on till the end of the game.

Yeah, despite everything I still hope this is the case. The idea that I can some day switch on my PlayStation and load Elite and *not be able to connect to any server is not a nice one. Even if it's just to jump in my Phantom and go poking around some interesting systems or explore deep space stations as I've been doing recently, Elite still supplies a gaming need for me, it's my go to relax game.

Given that FDev are not really doing any support for Legacy now (are they even doing bug fixes?!) it's literally just a case of paying the monthly AWS bill. If player numbers dwindle they can shrink the AWS instances and decrease costs in line - it's kinda the point of hosting servers in the cloud that it's scalable.

Now that my crew does not have to deal with PC and XP pushing back, we can move against the larger systems. So the actions of Fdev, to separate everything has a silver lining.

Are you sure?
I'm 99% sure that we're still sharing the old BGS with all other "legacy" players on PC and Xbox, we're just not sharing it with "live" players on PC 4.0, so if that's right, you're "only" competing with 20-30% less players (or however many make up the small minority playing "live" mode!) 😯😂😀🤘 .

I think you're right - pretty sure the three are just in the one Legacy galaxy.

But, it will depends whereabouts they are. I'm currently in a system a bit out from the Bubble and I'm watching the traffic report everyday. I see the odd explorer ship pass through but the only cargo hauler I see is my Cutter. So, I know that my actions will have a noticeable impact.

I've never bothered with the BGS previously but I'm trying new stuff out now cos, why not? Due to changes in real life situations I am no longer flying with my wing mates I used to regularly so am experimenting with stuff I can effect solo. So far I have got the second minor faction in my system up in influence by about 20% - looking forward to taking over soon enough!

Yea, the more I read the more it looks like you are right. Still, we are preparing our ships, and getting ready to start taking over. Do we know of any sites like INARA that still support Legacy mode?

Just checked Inara out of interest. It lets me log in and shows my fleet OK but the info is very out of date - I am showing in a system I haven't been in for weeks - before Update 14 I suppose.

EDSM likewise tells me it no longer supports console players when I log in.

I've been trying as far as possible to use the in game market to check prices. For now it's OK because I am just moving around the same few stations, far out from the Bubble. It's going to be more difficult if you are eg in Shinrarta and trying to find the best price for a particular commodity.

Life is just going to get tougher and tougher in Legacy...
