Anything worth doing isn't that hard, while as said, we've no direct evidence that Frontier even tried to make Odyssey run on consoles, let alone release a full native "next gen" version of the game!It would be nice if I could play on the PC and on the PS5 interchangeably (ie. fully synchronized game data) so that I could just choose which one to play in. But I suppose that would currently be too difficult.
Yes, I agree cmdr. Cyberpunk 2077 when it first came out was a mess on consoles, but after a good number of patches it's now totally playable on a base PS4, I know because that is what I have and I only recently completed it. I remember when legs was being discussed as a possible future direction, at the time I thought it was a great idea, little did I know it would spell the end of consoles, I wish they had focused on something else now and maybe we would have got true cross-platform play across PC and consoles. Video killed the radio star and legs killed the console cmdr.Anything worth doing isn't that hard, while as said, we've no direct evidence that Frontier even tried to make Odyssey run on consoles, let alone release a full native "next gen" version of the game!![]()
That is kind of the point, the fact that they aren't doing it means that it isn't worth doing.Anything worth doing isn't that hard, while as said, we've no direct evidence that Frontier even tried to make Odyssey run on consoles, let alone release a full native "next gen" version of the game!![]()
Well it's worth it to us!That is kind of the point, the fact that they aren't doing it means that it isn't worth doing.
If you were ever going to see a console version run it was going to be on Xbox as that is, essentially, a locked down PC running windows 10 / 11, if you can't run it there what hope does it have on any other console?
True, I have seen so many new CMDRs and I have never seen Playstation this busy. I wish that they still had CGs.If so, they should really get rid of the hype regarding the console version.
The Legacy state should be easily visible and it should be explained that no content updates are to be expected
Edit: unless the major feature revamp next year is a PS5/XBSeries version of Elite![]()
If you don't have a controller for your PC, I recommend the Xbox One controller. (I only have experience with the non-bluetooth version that needs the "Wireless Adapter for Windows 10" (yes, it's literally called that), and that works really well. I have no experience with the bluetooth version. Your PC is unlikely to have support out of the box, though). After all that excitement I had no energy to setup any keybinds or plugin my PS4 dual shock so I returned to the couch for a rest!![]()
I Voted!!!Currently voting is open on the Playstation Blog for the 2022 game of the year and various other categories...
In each of the categories who can pick from the suggested list or type in the name of another thing you want to vote for...
In the category for most anticipated game to be released in 2023 and beyond, I didn't like any of the suggestions and once I started thinking, "What game do I really want to see on PS5 in the near future?", OF COURSE the only one I could think of was a full PS5 native release for Elite Dangerous and Odyssey!
So in that category, to be brief, of course I entered, Elite Dangerous Odyssey, so if enough of us enter the game there, hopefully representatives from Sony will look and realise that the game currently isn't slated for a PS5 release, ask why it's not coming and what they can do to change that!
Also slightly off topic, from some of the other categories I saw that Return to Monkey Island thankfully came out on Playstation and Xbox recently after initially only coming out on PC and Switch, however looking further, it "only" came out on PS5 and Xbox Series X, not on PS4 and Xbox One - if it came out on Switch, surely it'll run on PS4 and Xbox One!!.

If you don't want to buy a new controller there's a utility for Windows called DS4Windows which lets you use your DS4 - the PC sees it as an Xbox controller though so you lose the touchpad, not sure about the gyro. It works really well, even wirelessly. If you don't have a controller for your PC, I recommend the Xbox One controller. You lose the touchpad and the gyro aiming, though, but otherwise it works really well. All the same default keybindings as on the PS4 and all.
The game uses all the open source middle ware they can to make the game run as best it can... so things like Havok engine is used, there not forcing themselves to only use just there in house engine its been on xbox one allready...Here's some interesting, Space Engineers was just announced for PS4 and PS5!
I must go watch some reviews of it, MAYBE it'll be good and it'll make us forget about Elite and the whole "legacy" debacle!!.
Indeed hopefully they'll let us play the new content on our systems of choice sooner rather than later - MAYBE after Odyssey updates 15 and 16, if that leaves the expansion in a state the Devs are happy with! The thargoid war on PC is actually fun though. It would have been great on PS5 Just don't mention #thebarresets though.
Steam should have full support (but might only work for games launched from Steam, I haven't checked). If you don't want to buy a new controller there's a utility for Windows called DS4Windows which lets you use your DS4 - the PC sees it as an Xbox controller though so you lose the touchpad, not sure about the gyro. Xbox controllers went through a version phase were Wifi direct was used exclusively instead of "cost a license fee" bluetooth...Steam should have full support (but might only work for games launched from Steam, I haven't checked).
As for working wirelessly, doesn't it require bluetooth? I don't think many PC motherboards have native support. (Although, to be frank, I actually don't know how console controllers communicate wirelessly. I assume it's bluetooth, but I haven't checked.)
My Dualsense controller seems to work fine on my system via bluetooth with DS4Windows.Steam should have full support (but might only work for games launched from Steam, I haven't checked).
