"No plans to port Elite Dangerous to PS5"

Even if they don’t do a PS5 native version of the base game, they should at least go for a PS5 version of Odyssey. That way they don’t give anything away for “free” but it would give folks like me who genuinely don’t have a reason to buy Odyssey (graphics, planetary tech and menu changes will hit the base game anyway and I couldn’t give two hoots about walking around) a very real reason to buy it.

I dunno, maybe I’m really unique in that? But I would have thought not so it’s an opportunity to get my money that, presently, they are unlikely to.

Not sure. I definitely want to try the on foot stuff but, considering that FDev still haven't published the minimum PC specification requirements when the DLC is literally launched next week is baffling to me.

I know they are trying to optimise but, realistically how much can be done in less than a week.

I would pay a premium for a PS5 version either way.

PSVR2 next year..hmmm

nope nope ... don't get your hopes up. Best not even to think about it, never mind mention it.

Let's check back in on the PS4 launch FAQ (last updated 21st April 2021) :

Meanwhile, another 63-people company gave us this for free:

Sure, plenty of other studios have made different decisions with their different things. How that helps here I have no idea, unless you are trying to "shame" frontier. I think others have tried and failed with that approach...

Implement a PS5 native version and deploy a 4K mode? What's not to agree? 😂
I'd imagine the shareholders would want some sort of return on that investment, which is mad because they would get it if it was offered
Odyssey DLC could cost £xx over the previous gen version and it would still sell

I would guess that 4K support would be a lot easier to market and do a much better job of selling the game on console that the current configuration.

In my living room, I have a rather large (65") TV
I have a Sky box at home, I can tell the difference between SD, HD and UHD.
I play Elite Dangerous on my PS4 Pro and there are parts of the screen that are font fuzzy as they are not rendered crisply.

In a time when so many Playstation games are now rendering in either native or checkerboard 4K, people who buy the game out of impulse will only have a marginal attach.
Elite doesn't have a compelling story, you need to drive progress.
Elite doesn't have regular hooks to pull people back in (login rewards, regular login freebies, etc)
It lives on people wanting to log in.

No upgrade in UI hamstrings the attach rate and once people have put the game down, there are no further purchases from the store (the revenue return argument)

It's ok if you have no idea if this helps or not. As for "shaming"... I am not sure anyone needs to do it anyway, things are pretty fine as they are.

By the way, if you feel the need to express your opinion on this reply here, don't do it for me, as you will be ignored. Do it for the others in this thread that have time to go through your condescending attitude fluff you like to post so much.

Apart from the odd obvious troll, the near 75 pages of discussion here obviously and clearly demonstrate the interest in this subject to the developer - it's their discussion forum after-all; that's what we're [mostly] doing here - discussing, and respecting the opinions of others, even if they don't match our own.

Ofc there is interest.
But did you count how many different people posted in those 75 pages?

The problem is how much they need to invest and how much they will get out of that investment. Simple as that.
IF Consolers would have been their main source of income - we would have had native versions since last November and Odyssey would have been launched on consoles first with the PC crowd drooling about it.

But it's the other way around.

And i do have hopes for a native console version in Autumn (new engine, new tech etc), but still it's mostly wishful thinking.
