No reason to hire a second fighter pilot?

There's always been room for 5 replacement fighters in my module, but as has been said, it takes time to synthesise them. That was the supposed point of having two hangars.

Have to say, when I finally got around to buying a second fighter bay, and getting it sent to my carrier's store, it wouldn't let me equip it. Only swap it with the fighter bay already equipped.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong...
You can only fit one fighter hangar, which has either one or two fighter bays.

You can only have one fighter Hangar per ship, but these come i 3 sizes.
5, 6 and 7

The smaller size 5, only have room for one fighter at a time.

The bigger size 6 and 7 have room for two fighters at the same time, and the difference between these two are number of fighters that can be printed.

So on the size 6 and 7 you can have two different kinds of fighters, or use the same blueprint for both slots.

And the biggest reason for having a size 6 or 7 fighter hangar is to be able to send out a new fighter when the first one is destroyed, and often, this fighter last long enough for the 3D printing process to have replaced the lost fighter.

This is strange restriction, as you can put multiple SRV hangars on the same ship. There are plenty of these sort of strange differences between Fighters and SRVs..
Why can Fighters be 3D Printed, but not SRV?
Why can you telepresence Fighter but not SRV (I do not count telepresence when you enter the turret as you are still doing that form the SRV)
Why do Fighter hangar require less power than the SRV Hangar?

3 SLF pilots are necessary.

They are a progressive wealth tax.

You must level all to Elite to maximize the "fair share" distributed to those with ugly female avatar 3, and ugly male avatar 2 who never ever get hired.

you missed an important point to maximize this, and tthat is you must hire them as experrt to maximize that wealth tax... as hiring them as total newbies lowers the tax they take at Elite level.

They could've gone with an update to give us empire building or an update to give us quailty of life.

They went with legs.

On point made about having multiple fighter bays.
True, you can't have several npcs flying fighters, but if you have a crew of real cmdrs working for you, they can fly a fighter each.
I don't think many people multi-crew, but it's an option.

It'll only be worth hiring more if they ever become actual avatars and not just holograms. I'd love to see my npc driving around in my SRV or even helping me with an on foot combat mission.

SLF has always been telepresence so destroying the SLF never killed the NPC Pilot, but destruction of the Mother ship did kill the NPC Pilot and they were lost for ever, even Elite ones.
Ah!! This feature must be back in Odyssey. Its the only explanation to why my Crew member whom I trained since harmless suddenly deserted me. I had thought it was merely desertion but the puzzle pieces fit now as my ship had been destroyed right before her disappearance. RIP Rebecka Snider. A most beautiful and deadly pilot.

If you hire two you can move them to an agri-dome and wait for one to lay an egg. You'll need to walk 255 steps first though.

You should have had the option to buy her life back at the rebuy screen....either its been removed in EDO or the option wasn't chosen or defaulted to not buying her back rather than default she comes back or you missed the choice by clicking too quick (lore wise you retrospectively buy her an escape pod, I know it doesn't make sense, it should be an option when you hired her not after she died)

If its a bug or unintended, Support might help you out, they are usually pretty forgiving but not sure if its something they can do in this case or not but maybe worth a try if you want to.

I looked at my stats the other day, something like 16 hired, 3 released from contract, 1 still alive...and the rest....well lets just say it wasnt always safe flying with me :) And they all had such a good back story and some loved ones, surprised they haven't got together and hired an assassin or a lawyer really.
