No respawns of sentry skimmers at surface settlements in one instance.

I recently got an ambient mission to take a look at a medium security settlement. Good lord do I regret going to check it out.
The skimmers respawn constantly, including missile launching ones that spawn in threes, and a goliath, that takes 5 minutes to kill, but respawns in 30 seconds.
This isn't challenging or fun, it's frustrating. Pair that with the damned SRV controls and it's a nightmare.

At the very least, don't allow skimmers to respawn, or at least provide a means for the player to prevent further skimmers from spawning. I had to go through 10 SRV Repair synthesis and 5 ammo synthesis before I just gave up because it was impossible to progress the settlement's minigame.

I support the No Respawn thing, as I find them extremely annoying at first, and it is the honestly the only thing holding me back from doing the outpost missions.
However, I found out a way to do one mission I was given, but I can't remember if it was in a low or medium sec area, and it the area itself was a medium sized. What I did was just to go full speed ahead inside, and hide. The skimmers would loose track of me, and those who did spot me, could I easily pick out with one on one combat.

The whole point of the respawns was because insufficient skimmers would spawn for skimmer kill missions at the target bases.

Re: goliaths, go back to your ship and blitz it.

Also, in most bases with goliaths, there will be a skimmer control tower. Scanning it will stop the spawns.

This is why 'in one instance' is in the title. The idea being that if a player wants more skimmers they can do a quick supercruise in and out, while also meaning someone doing a settlement objective isn't tortured for half a damn hour.

That's how it used to be. The current system is the fix. Rolling back a fix is highly unlikely. Besides, SCing in and out is just kludgy.

Also, you are aware you don't need to use the srv for installation scans right? It's really easy to do those from the ship.

On top of that, also easy to hit the settlement powerplant from the ship and take out most defences.

So there's a whole layer of content, in which your provised workaround for frustrating gameplay is to just cheese the whole thing from the ship, when the system of opening locked gates/etc. and skimmer combat is clearly intended for the SRV? What a load of tosh and it being a 'fix' is laughable.

Plus it doesn't even work for the settlements I'm talking about. The data points you have to open in sequence have to be activated from the SRV.

You think you're not meant to soften up bases with a ship beforehand?

Oooookay.....
