No Single Player offline Mode then?

It's like they bought a car from your showroom , drove it around for 6 months and then brought it back and demanded a refund, I know where I'd tell them to go lol.

And if the car was found to be faulty, one would indeed get a full refund (under local laws here)

But youre arguing the point not from any legal standpoint, or understanding of consumer law, just from your own personal ideal-world point of view.

Which is quaint, but to use your term "I dont care"

Again you are offering nothing to the debate/discussion, just bemoaning others who have a legitimate standpoint.

You are of course welcome to post in this thread, despite it not affecting you at all, and of course you are welcome to continually tell people you dont care over and over and over .. but you should really try to understand some of the people who are affected by this development, rather than undertake a seamless pollyanna point of view

you can google it if you like

What amuses me the most is that this "no refunds, you deserve nothing" is so often phrased as though it's some kind of worldly, tough-it-up-kids thing where everyone complaining about their rights is just a whiner who will get a quick lesson in how the real world works.

That's not how it works.

The ACCC will dog your business for years if you mess up enough to get on their radar. Their compliance involves verifying individual actions by employees of a company for years. They are not a joke. They enforce some very plain english kinds of laws with very little wiggle room in them.

I'm thinking that maybe one of us Aussies need to at least make the ACCC aware of this perhaps?

If it were your company and you sold a product and they used it for a considerable time then they decided they didn't want it would you be happy with them asking for their money back.

I was approached and offered a fully furnished house, built on solid foundations. I agreed and handed over my money. Six months later Mr Builder turns up on my door step towing a caravan with flat ties and merrily says " We were a little pushed getting all of the materials, so this is the best we could do. Have a nice day"

If you do, mail this pom some popcorn, I want to watch. This ought to be interesting. ( I knew this thread was going great places! )

Yes, I'm feeling slightly in the mood of "Burn burn burn" but then again, we just hit slashdot, and if they decide to hammer the site, well, nobody's gonna even be able to access the forums for a few hours if the story picks up.

It's not a commercial product yet. of course your mileage may differ, I don't think they are a charity either, of course you cannot ask for donations to a charity back.

You can't seriously say this has been anything like a proper gaming experience, we have been testing a shell. I have enjoyed very little but done it anyway because I thought it might help, probably a lot of people feel the same. You evidently feel like you have had your moneys worth already... I do not.

It would appear you just don't like the game, I would ask for a refund if I were you.

So, 3 refund requests and still no replay or refund...Either they are swamped or they are hoping I will change my mind...I won't. This game will be dead within a year. Once the Servers go Offline, Poof goes the game. I'm not interested in that at ALL!

At last a chance for me to post something informative and helpful in this threadnought

Everything and anything are subject to change in the game at any time, that's all you need to know, I'm sorry if you are not satisfied, ask for a refund.

"Galaxy, story, missions, have to match, and it does mean the single player has to connect to the server from time to time, but this has the added advantage that everyone can participate in the activities that can happen in the galaxy. A fully offline experience would be unacceptably limited and static compared to the dynamic, ever unfolding experience we are delivering."

Wow I remember another game that I really looked forward to, "always connected, best online experience, our vision" ... Yeah you remember EA's latest Sim City? Only Online will be possible! huuur

That was less than a year ago

wow so the thread has descended into attacking the company and vitriol.

Now we see the agenda's of some of those involved.

Thought i could tell from some previous posters tones but this behavior is pretty disgusting and if you do manage to affect the company in any way you should hang your heads in shame, what a disgrace.

Everyone that supports FD should now stop posting in this thread really and leave these weird people to destroy something that they once said they supported.

This will be my last post in what has become a rancid and depressing thread.

Have fun and try to calm down with the vitriol/hating & legal warnings etc its really rather silly.

It would appear you just don't like the game

What's been to like ? Being rammed by invisible ships ? Permanent frameshift ? Disappearing missions ? Spawning inside the space station walls ? Disappearing bounties ?
Waiting 10 minutes to undock ?

seriously though none of us have played the game yet, we've tested components that's it.

At this point, maybe Frontier could do it with something like:

"Sorry, we tried our best so you offline guys could play the game you funded, but (insert ten pages of technicalities) forbids us to keep that compromise. Tough luck!"

Yet also one is to wonder, why did Frontier develop the game in such direction that offline mode was rendered impossible?

Just requested a refund

I've just asked for a refund. I did not pay £750 for a game that I won't' be able to play in five years' time.

I was told by the Mod on the Elite FB page that I could. I have filled out the Form 3 times with No reply yet. I am very curious to know if "ANYONE" has gotten a Refund after this announcement?

A large number of the people seem to agree irrelevant of if they care or not about offline that Frontier had dealt this very badly.

Form posts by 1 or 2 members of the dev team is clearly not satisfactory customer service on a fundamental change such as this.
The longer Frontier let us swing in the wind wondering if refunds will be given the more annoyed people will get.

As has been said and seemingly ignored in this thread by the dev team they need now to acknowledge the issue in a formal statement and confirm for people if refunds will be given not just saying its on a case by case basis.

This thing has gone too far for that now, so come on Frontier recover your integrity and do something!

Oooh! Thanks for reminding me, we've not had a threadnaught image recently. I should correct that.

There we go. Comedy image number three served sunny side up for you from rainy old Britain. Happy Tuesday, I'm off for a tiger nap.

Minimum fine (by the legislation) is $1 M AUD, usual fine sits around the $6 M - $10 M mark.

Here Dicemann, heres the rub, here's an example that sounds very familiar :

ACCC is about to hurt Steam pretty bad...

The ACCC alleges that Valve made false or misleading representations to Australian customers of Steam that:

-consumers were not entitled to a refund for any games sold by Valve via Steam in any circumstances;
-Valve had excluded, restricted or modified statutory guarantees and/or warranties that goods would be of acceptable quality;
-Valve was not under any obligation to repair, replace or provide a refund for a game where the consumer had not contacted and attempted to resolve the problem with the computer game developer; and
the statutory consumer guarantees did not apply to games sold by Valve.

and

The ACCC is seeking declarations, injunctions, pecuniary penalties, disclosure orders, adverse publicity orders, non-party consumer redress, a compliance program order and costs.

Should come in around $6M AUD

OH Jeesh! I was Feeling bad about 140! Or about $300 Us dollars! I may have been exaggerating with the Timeframe of a year but even if its 10yrs, I expect to be able to boot up my $300 game in 20 Yrs without permission!

You payed for the privilege, you got your moneys worth, now you want it back, good luck with that.

You actually quoted me several posts ago " Originally Posted by Dr Zachary Smith View Post

Flagged for baiting, have fun.
