No Single Player offline Mode then?

Sorry if this has been asked already, but it's hard to get a complete picture on this situation.

Anyway, one thing that I was expecting from ED was FFE-style hand-coded missions.

The newsletter states that online is required to sync story, so does that mean that I'm spending £35 to read about how M()therB()ner69 got the Argent's Quest/Unique Ship even though I'm in solo mode?

Of course if this Persistent Universe is a Theme Park, like WOW, then it won't affect solo mode.

But paying out to not be a unique snowflake is a deal breaker for me.

This is not about sympathy. I want this game to succeed and remain relevant for a long time. So far they are in the middle and need to push into a direction. Multiplayer is where the majority of the market is. Dropping offline mode, is a good first step, but they need to also drop solo online mode (at least the ability to switch at will from open) also, and just go serious about multiplayer and guild support.

Multiplayer and guild features is what will keep this game relevant for a long time. The shine will fade, the grind will suck, they neeeed multiplayer to keep it relevant and fun.

you seem certain but is there any proof? hold on, i will answer. No. Your opinions are merely that.

Sorry, I paid for OFFLINE because ONLINE gaming sucks, being beat up by deathmatching teenagers ain't my cup of tea!
Besides, I only play on the Oculus Rift and so far ONLINE introduces sickening stuttering.
I was simply hoping for a stable OFFLINE game with shooting, trading and exploring while rifting, is that to much too ask?

I paid nearly a hundred Aus dollars for this game.
I upgraded my PC for this game.
I bought an X52 for this game.

Not happy Jan!
Well depending on whether you get that stuttering on Solo you could still enjoy the game without the direct annoyance of players. Also depends on your internet access.

I do not want to be playing the market against the hacks, bots and RMTers that flood all online games. That does not enrich my game at all.

although i planned to play online from the beginning... i did see the offline mode as a fallback option in case the galaxy and it's community drifts in a direction i don't want to be part of.
so i perfectly get your point.

I have no answer for you but a +1 on the "unique snowflake". Win.

Not sure the stuttering is anything to do with online there? Does it happen in solo too? If so then it'll be a graphics problem - ticket it ;)

I know you were looking for offline but you also paid for the development of online too. There was no choice - at the time it was online + offline.

Not sure what's going on really. lol

It does seem strange to me that Frontier Developments would completely pull any offline play for this game,
Though I do understand that a 100% online game can provide more of a dynamic game experience..

I have seen mentioned from the devs that players need to be on-line when trading, like it's one of them main reasons for needing to be constantly on-line, though I don't really understand why that should be.
I mean, many games have economy based systems in them and 99% of them don't require an internet connection.

I can't help but wonder if the main reason why there isn't going to be an offline game available, is because Frontier Developments haven't the time to make it to the standard that's required..
ie.. Bug Free on release, and there's probably a business related reason why they have to release the game on the date they have stated.

You can still play solo, you just need to connect online for the background simulation while not interactive with any players.

Also don't deathmatch then - try learn to avoid pirates and bounty hunters. The AI might be a lot less forgiving and will kill you much better and faster than most human players.

What would you consider "proper" MP? How is what we currently have not proper?

Getting in an instance with the people in your private group for starters. How about when you get in the instance with them, you can see them and they can see you. And, then when you see each other, you both see the same NPC with the same data, instead on one of you seeing the NPC as Harmless and the other as Deadly. True story. There's lot that won't be working still in a months time.
