No Single Player offline Mode then?

I do not want to be playing the market against the hacks, bots and RMTers that flood all online games. That does not enrich my game at all.

Ditto. I want offline because I don't want other people to impact my game in any way whatsoever. It's simply not fun for me... needing to buy goods or equipment and someone (unseen) got there before me.

Very disappointed to hear offline has been cancelled. I feel for all those living in areas with poor or no BB as well as those of us with decent connection now unsure if they will be able to play in a few years time. I have lost a lot of respect for FD and am even more worried about the state of the game. Beta 3 is unplayable for me with mining being the only thing not bugged.

I also looked forward to modding my offline game. Not just 3rd party skins but full conversion like Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica mods. These sort of things extend a games life massively.

FD should be ashamed of themselves with this decision. Failing to honour a promise and I also don't believe its something they have not known for a lot longer. If Elite fails, they have a great career in politics ahead of them.

The people over at Star Citizen must be laughing their heads off.

Yeah remarkably similar comments to here ....

Definitely a crisis meeting first thing for DB and MB me thinks!

Frankly I think it'll largely blow over, but there will be some who have a damaged reputation. Nobody is still really having a go at Maxis every day about SimCity, but SimCity gets mentioned as an example. Frontier will become an example used for similar cases in the future.

Sorry, I paid for OFFLINE because ONLINE gaming sucks, being beat up by deathmatching teenagers ain't my cup of tea!
Besides, I only play on the Oculus Rift and so far ONLINE introduces sickening stuttering.
I was simply hoping for a stable OFFLINE game with shooting, trading and exploring while rifting, is that to much too ask?

I paid nearly a hundred Aus dollars for this game.
I upgraded my PC for this game.
I bought an X52 for this game.

Not happy Jan!

You can clearly play SOLO ONLINE mode. No teens, no stuttering.

Well as it's been pretty much confirmed most actions take place on the server and not in the client - a lot of these things are going to be very hard to do - not impossible, but as there is also no player market and gold farmers can farm skins and bobbleheads I very much doubt they'll give this game much attention.

Maybe with this many posts they will rethink? This reminds me of the Planetary Annihilation situation. People wanted off-line and eventually got it after release but the makers had to cancel their next game Human Resources because there wasn't enough backing. People were not happy I guess that they had not finished one game before starting the next.

I feel sorry for people who have no or bad internet in this case with Elite Dangerous. We have seen some other examples of people peed off: simcity, command and conquer 4, any single player game on steam such as Skyrim (when steam lost its off line mode). Software piracy is actually increased on games with such online requirements. Elite will be another game on a torrent site with a fake offline server program.

Personally I look forward to online with my mates but I'm not everyone, only 1 customer.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but it's hard to get a complete picture on this situation.

Anyway, one thing that I was expecting from ED was FFE-style hand-coded missions.

The newsletter states that online is required to sync story, so does that mean that I'm spending £35 to read about how M()therB()ner69 got the Argent's Quest/Unique Ship even though I'm in solo mode?

Of course if this Persistent Universe is a Theme Park, like WOW, then it won't affect solo mode.

But paying out to not be a unique snowflake is a deal breaker for me.

yep, you won't be the first to discover the Thargoids either. That'll l33tk1ngpowzu69.

Hi guys, I don't have time to read through all the pages(300!?) any word on if refunds might be given? Gutted about this...

still did not got mine, (asked yesterday) but i hope they will change their minds
it could differ if you are a kickstarter backer or you bought it at their store.
still no official word apart from :"open a ticket in the store and we'll see"

I think with that case it was because they barely got PA out the door before announcing another game.

I'm not sure what to say here. I think I've just seen someone that thinks broadly.. WTFoxtrot?!?!
Offline has never been a deal breaker for me but I understand why people may want to play after FD goes belly up and the servers are gone. Kudos!

i played solo for the entire beta 2/3 and always got stuttering in solo mode near planets and in hyper drive. also got some serious issuess with audio and 4-5 seconds freezes
edit: it may differ from pc to pc tho

Sure, they are laughing, because most of their fans don't know that they don't have their truly private server SC anymore either, for almost same reasons.

I can't confirm but I'd suspect some of those people are the same people posting here, and certainly more of them I suspect are coming from other forums to gloat.

No, what I am doing is mentioning a relevant topic in a different thread(general, at that).

Which is basically a double post, aka, not wanted.

Anyway, you can ask for a refund in the online shop. You would have known if you'd read the other thread.
