No Skimmers at settlement for Skimmer Mission?!

Hi all,
I hope someone can help! This is the first time i have tried doing a skimmer mission since Odysseys release, and they used to be really easy! However, a friend and i picked up a couple of skimmer missions, but when we reached the Settlement no skimmers spawned? At all! There were people running around which we killed and even reinforcements arrived but no skimmers, I even tried a re-log but that didn't work either.

I've tried looking about for help but no one seems to be having any issue at least getting one to spawn, so what am i doing wrong? I mean it used to be if no, or not enough skimmers spawned you could just drive away from the settlement and look for random sites from the SRV scanner that spawned them but that no longer seems to be a thing as i drove almost 50km from the settlement and didn't see a thing on my scanner!

Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry to say I didn't in the end. After a little research I figured that the settlement the mission wanted me to go to wasn't a high enough threat level to spawn skimmers so i abandoned the mission and just don't take those types of missions anymore.

normally those missions are completed, by me at least by driving away from the settlement
I usually land a few hundred km away, the range for skimmers that belong to the faction in control of the settlement to spawn, aka the targets, is 400km radius from the settlement. this can vary if there are other permanent settlements or stations around, within its circle.
its the same as looking for meteorites except the signal is higher up , but poi crash sites with skimmers guarding any cargo.
and they do still appear in Odyssey just like in Horizons.

Thank you, I've only been playing a couple of days so I'm brand new but I'll give a go. I never thought about going that far out from the settlement.

it usually only take 10 - 20 minutes to find some, often faster. rng

I find it easier to land away, then use the settlement as a direction, so I don't cover the same ground twice.

if you are not familiar with the srv signal, utube can help. but as I said it is higher up than meteorites, it is the bars 1,7,8 lit up on the scanner = tech aka buildings, canisters, turrets.
bars count from the bottom to top aka 1, 2,3,,,,

I'm watching one to see how it works now lol, I've not had much chance to play around and learn with the SRV yet but im gonna tonight when I play and try one of these missions again, thanks for the tips.

sound is a better indicator, but both ofc if possible.
because, often meteorites and other stuff signals can cross each other, this usually wipes one or more out of your view..
each of the 8 bars is that, it is a sonar and each bar is detecting a specific frequency range
