No Space Legs yet, so how about...

Most likely they would have to re-model some aspects of animations we see. The Eagle, Imperial Eagle, and Imperial Courier all had to have their landing gear extended to allow for an SRV to deploy downwards from the cargo hatch. I'm not sure how many other ships needed to do this as well.

The funny thing is that the Imperial Courier has a rear ramp between the two thrusters, and it might be wide enough to deploy and SRV. The Imperial Clipper's definitely is.

I'm not sure if the Imperial Eagle was intended to deploy an SRV, but my guess is Gutamaya ships were intended to have an alternate means of deploying SRVs in a 'fancy' or elaborate manner. (Hell, there might even be a secretive Gutamaya version of the SRV, that the never finished developing.)

So my assumption is that the way the original internal schematics work do not currently jive with the 'measurements' and diagrams of the internal compartments as they exist right now, and they definitely don't fit with the animations as they exist right now.

(Have you tried deploying a huge plasma accelerator from a Fer-de-Lance in the hangar? Oh my gods the clipping?)

So your best option is to guess from the outside and through the windows. Personally, I believe the Cutter has an armoured bridge, gunnery control, fleet command, or VIP observation deck just behind the large dorsal hardpoints. (The gunnery station guess was pre-multi-crew.)

Theory crafting is fun.

Great idea!

Even if all that exists is concept art.

And I can imagine they wouldn't render interiors that can't be used yet.

In fact, on some ships when changing weapons in outfitting it appears the interiors are totally empty/hollow.

But I for one would love to walk around my ship's interior. That said, while flying there isn't much time to do that (without an auto-jump sequencer) as I avoid stations over 5k ls.

Braben has said that each ship is designed and modeled with an interior, to allow for future space legs.

I'd like for the camera controls to allow you to move the camera through the walls, so you could see the insides of your ship. It should be simple to do; it's far harder to block the camera movement. Granted, there might be more to implement; even if the insides exist, they might not be lit or textured.

Given how incredibly slow FDev is about updates and upgrades, I highly doubt they will be putting rooms into the ship months to years prior to us being able to experience space legs. Because what would happen if we have those rooms and never get them? Can you see lawsuits developing from that? I can.

Has anyone in VR actually got up from their seat and walked to one of the bridge doors to see if you can clip though it to see other side? I have not tried it yet as my roomscale is not quite large enough, but perhaps someone else?

I did in an Asp a long time ago, at least out the side of the cockpit into the space by the thruster assembly (I hit a wall trying to reach the door). Looking back through the ship I didn’t see much of anything, it looked like empty space mainly, like when only one side of a polygon has texfures.

One of the streamers I used to watch did this. It was an empty space.

On the one hand, great. On the other hand, I'll need several months of 9 day weeks to get all the blueprints drawn and a the same again to get them translated into three other languages.

I'm game though.

We don't know the internal layout of most ships. They only showed a few interiors with the concept art.

Actually, it occurs to me it might be good to let us see the planned layouts of ships, so we can offer suggestions for changes or modifications we might like. The community can be a RESOURCE, the devs ought to make use of us!
