No support for noobs

T the Sideweiner basically dies instantly when an enemy arrives) and have taken to using Slopey's tool: http://www.oisltest.com/DM/BPC/Default.aspx to find what is profitable to buy and then sell at the next station I'm headed to.

.

I have to disagree. I fly that ship all the time into combat. I really have issues when facing more than one ship. If it's only one, all you need to do is fly behind, to the side, get within a 1km and fire away. The combat missions are a great training ground on the combat aspect. Distress signal facing Feds I just farm money and don't even take a hit. It is like shooting fish in a barrel. And I know that compared to some, I really suck at combat.

And what is this slopey's tool? (is there anyone else who thinks that sounds a bit suss) Sounds like it is something that plays the game for you and takes away some of the enjoyment. ie determining which items to trade. Should be something each commander works out for himself.

Now that comms are working, the old guard could maybe offer to take out some of the newer commanders for some flying lessons ???

 starts humming the Top Gun tune!

All that tool does is query the current value (within a few hours) of commodities and lets you compare values across stations. It doesn't play anything for you.

It's a reference, that is all, but very valuable. It will tell you the going rate in the market at different locations, allowing you to check what is available at your current port and what it's worth where you are headed.

It's hardly suspect; people trade on markets with information about those markets in real life. No reason to not to use real-time info in the game.

My guess is they will eventually add the ability to see this anyway.

Did you even read my post?

Of course I did, and you are welcome to ask for assistance from the community however the best and most direct way to get assistance for issues with the game is the support at the store, or through the ticketing system.

Hence my post. Sorry if you felt that it wasn't helpful.

OP, have you seen the newbie guide the FD have made available on the site (not the forums)?

I actually have not, however since this post forum support from other users is fantastic.

I want to be clear that:

1) I overreacted due to complete lack of response; I couldn't even ask a question without "moderator approval" which is utterly frustrating.

2) Since posting this (the last and by far most frustrated posts) I have received awesome, open responses from other people who clearly are as stoked for the full release as I am.

3) I was acting simply to get a response and genuinely want to love this game. The more I play and pick the brains of others the more I actually enjoy this.

My bitterness has fully subsided and I am having a lot of fun trying to rack up credits doing trading and various cargo missions. I'm stoked for when I can finally get a decent cargo ship that also has some defenses.

I don't care what you say: the Sideweiner is very weak and I'm terrified to take it into combat.

Once you have some sticktime, and a bit of money to afford some select upgrades - the poor little Sidewinder is a viable killing machine.

Gimballed burst and fixed multicannon, high maneuverability, decent speed and lots of visibility - the poor little Sidewinder is not to be underestimated out of hand.

its free, leave the station in a standard sidewinder without any cargo and even if you do die you lose nothing. but, if while your out trying your hand at combat you find some cargo, you have space for it - remember to sell at an anarchy planet though as it can be real hard to get in anywhere else without being scanned for stolen goods then destroyed for it.

and btw - there are some real dumb npc's out there, i killed an anaconda in a basic sidewinder - the idiot took one shot at me then just sat there mouthing off while i knocked out his shields and gradully burned though his hull for a 400 cred bounty
