No udate complete without a stealth nerf to mining

I was wondering what it was this upgrade.

Currently in a pristine ice ring, finding lots of roids whose total ore percentage adds up to about 14%.

Huh. I always knew ice mining was sparse, but what kind of ore percentage were we seeing in 2.3?

I've always avoided ice mining like the plague, so I'm not very familiar with it.

First thing I checked. It's pristine alright.

I know how RNG works in this game. But how does 14% yield fit in any description of "pristine"?

14% yield from ice is what you would get in a depleted ring, from my experience. So something seems to be bugged.

Kinda funny, I was thinking the exact opposite. Been mining for over a year now, % has always been low to average. Went to Merope 1A to mine Painite for Selene Jene, literally hit the jackpot, I was under the impression they seriously boosted mining, on top of that all the stations are producing huge amounts of missions, practically everywhere is offering high profit mining missions.

Obviously could have just been a lot of luck. I'll be mining over the weekend, will see how it all pans out, I'll check out some Ice rings.

The day before 2.4 dropped I was finding 28% bromellite reserves in the ice ring of LFT 65 body 1. I would say 1 in 30 roids. Surprisingly, there were also a good percentage of medium roids, 1 in 6 maybe.

Then again not just because the numbers were bad during your sesssion automatically means that they've nerfed something. Sometimes even the pristine ones are a complete waste of time, sometimes you hit gold mines its part of it.

Surprisingly, there were also a good percentage of medium roids, 1 in 6 maybe.

Maybe that's been improved, as that's twice the rate that they used to be - I measured Ice at 8% medium roids.

And you still think 14% is a reasonable yield in a pristine ring. That isn't RNG.

Mr lizard is one of our most experienced miners. Also, asteroids are persistent in elite. If you can find one with 28% bromellite, and somehow be able to find it again, you will find it is identical in shape and mineral composition. I would be willing to bet that for him to be saying this, he will have dropped into an area he knows well and moved enough material to be able to reach that conclusion. I not saying I completely agree, evidence may still be anecdotal, but Limoncello is not ignoring something obvious to the rest of us, you can be sure of that.

I'm in a ring I've mined several times before, but I'm just in a random part of it. I mostly mine in random locations, as calculating statistics doesn't work if you keep mining the same roids.

I'm also testing out my new Cutter, which mines wonderfully.

Maybe it was always this bad. Mostly when I mine in ice rings I don't have a refinery so aren't looking at the percentages at all, just the materials.

If that 78% LTD roid was in a RES, you could map the location and return. If you go back 2 hours later it will have refreshed.

Thanks for the qualification, I was really just pointing out to the other poster that I don't believe you would have discounted such an obvious explanation, being one of our mining gurus.

So you're documenting all your mining sessions still, huh? Can't wait to see your results and conclusions, even though I hate mining. Lol

Someone who maps rings can prove or disprove this by just checking already mapped rocks.
