Nobody behind the counter at Inter Astra anymore.

The NPC's inside the ground bugs really weird me out, I just don't even understand how that kind of bug happens, if the interiors were procedurally generated, and NPC's weren't always in the exact same position, I could kind of maybe get how this happened. But .. they are very static environments, with fixed points for these NPC's to stand in.

It's bizarre, what manner of sorcery are they using to code this stuff?

Dunno, but I had this happen to me just now:

It seems as though they're offset a few meters from where they normally stand. This particular NPC stands on the opposite side of the glass outside of InterAstra.

The same thing happened to me tonight ...

I already knew the crime system was wonky but i was pretty much fine with it (basically avoiding illegal stuff). Problem is, after i spent month raising my fed rank to lt commander through standard gameplay i wanted a little boost so i went to two remote systems 500ly away from my home base (Rhea in this case).

Doing tons of missions, mostly the data delivery and some trading / goods deliveries, i was interdicted and attacked by a clean NPC. Therefore, when i retaliated i got a bounty of like 200Cr (really, close to nothing wich makes things even more ridiculous ...). At some point i was, anyway, 300ly away from the nearest IF (and even then, the map was not showing any at all when filtering and looking here and there).

I used the EDDB and noticed one but, as i said, 300ly away ... I chose to turn myself in, i mean its just 200Cr right ?

Got teleported on foot (yeah i left my ship while walking the concourse just before turning myself in, dumb right ?), 300ly away then, on the prison ship. without my ship of course. Still, i thought, Okay i lost some time for nothing but, nevermind, i'll just go back.

I book a shuttle to Maia (i suspect this is where the original post talked about - the ceos - sothis systems being a really nice place for federation missions). Then on the concourse of the local starport i go to the inter astra counter to get my ship back.

Of course, no one there ... Why should i think otherwise ?

between the various UI bug, the game itself that wont close until i force shut it through task manager AND by closing steam (yes, it is that bad), i've seen the all concourse disappear, showing weird space and graphic glitches, along with parts of the station i was on. The icons in the UI are unbearable, i looked for days and found no guide whatsoever as to what they all actually means. When i switch back to horizons, most of the bug simply vanish and the game closes fine.

I lost hours of gameplay, this is really frustrating. all that because of a ridiculous crime system which basically screams "broken" (makes millions by slaying local factions military ships like a AC:Odyssey misthios = no consequences, but gets jailed hundreds of ly away for 200Cr ?? really ???).

Now i'm scared of disabling odyssey to see if i will get teleported back to my ship (because my last ship is displayed at the game start menu so i guess its still registered as if im in it ...)

Yeah I’ve put away Odyssey for the time being. Haven’t even tried patch 5, but there’s no mention of any fix for detention ships. Not enough communication from the Devs and not even an acknowledgement that they recognize something is wrong.

Like, if it’s supposed to be this way, fine, but this isn’t how the devs described it would work, so they need to communicate something about it or fix it to be in line with their original description or both.

Too much of the game feels like troubleshooting and workarounds rather than role playing. I’m not worried about saying anything too harsh and hurting dev’s feelings because clearly nobody who built this is even reading and they probably left the company already.

Odyssey is terrible.

Did an experiment today, moved my ships to my intended home station on a planet, hoping the missing inter Astra personnel was due to having only one ship available at any one time. No dice. Can't figure out any way to swap ships at that station.

It's just another bug, they are probably standing outside of the concourse somewhere or something glitchy

Good question. I don’t know because I’m not at those stations anymore. They were all “big” rotating stations which I think always have shipyards, don’t they?

Anyway, if this empty counter isn’t a bug, and the reason for all of this is that the port(s) in question have no shipyard, that would be extra hilarious and very much in line with FDev’s clueless approach to design.

“No shipyard? No problem! We’ll just build an entire Inter Astra office, with lights and hologram tables and billboards and everything; we’ll even have NPCs walk in and out and browse the shelves with their hands on their chins and thoughtful looks on their faces, etc; and then we’ll just have nobody behind the counter! Problem solved!”
Not all of them have shipyards, give us the system name and I'll look it up on inara. I can point to many around Khwar that do not have any shipyards that are orbiting stations.

Like I said, I don't know anymore. But it doesn't matter. I'm 100% willing to believe that this is not a bug and it's just like you say where stations without shipyards will have entire fully set up Inter Astra offices with no one behind the counter; and I'm 100% going to say that this is completely embarrassingly idiotic, and shamefully unacceptably lazy.

That is... more than a tad unfortunate if it is the case, and it does appear to be. I thought it was a bug because it's completely mad - but it seems like they simply didn't have the time/resource/will to make a new version of the station interiors (theres what? 3?????????) without the office to make it make sense...

FD... your attention to detail used to be quite good.

I believe if there's no one behind the counter because there are no shipyard services at that location. At least that's what I'm noticing. I think they should replace it with an ice-cream parlor or something in that case :)
