Non lethal takedown update?

I know this has been brought up before, and I think I get why things are the way they are.

I had heard that the reason there are no non-lethal takedowns (ie clubbing or stunning) is that if you could do that and then kill the target afterwards, that would slap ED with a PEGI 18 rating. (correct me if I'm wrong, it's just what I heard)

But would people really balk that much if stunning rendered the target immune to weapons fire afterwards? They're technically out of the fight, so unless you're collecting toes afterwards, what does it matter? (In the case of assassination missions, if you were to stun a target, it could still count as a success, since it would be assumed they're "taken care of" (in the Al Pachino way, not Julie Andrews).

What is the current stance on this from the devs (if any?)

A 'stun' feature/function would be a noble one. PEGI18 impact ... I surely don't know.

Pirate attacks may take advantage of the 'stun' feature (perhaps in what a majority of the player base may consider a more noble usage) and thus enhance the experience for others. I would expect, this would be welcomed by the victim ... perhaps any weapon immunity would be cancelled as soon as the victim pulled their own trigger.

As to how much the player base would appreciate this feature, perhaps this thread will indicate.

For sure, it's an interesting discussion point. Perhaps that's all it'll be.

Technically speaking, everyone is "stunned". If that weren't the case, you would get a game over screen after being "killed". It counts as a "kill" for whoever made your character horizontally-oriented, but you just get a buyback/redeploy screen. The same has to be true for NPC's, or the game would rapidly run out of names.

Adding a temporary stun just doesn't fit that game mechanic.

It would be interesting if there were some sort of explanation provided on the "killed" to "not killed" process. That would be good enough for me.

Given the arguments over things like "telepresence" (quietly existing in the setting since the original game and more recently without complaint until Frontier said it was how multicrew worked) I think the last thing they should want to do is provide any further in-universe explanation for the process which is essentially "reloading your last save game".

What mystifies me is who are removing the corpses I leave behind me when going on a bend...

Is it the mythical Arai's Crime Scene Cleanup Service or what?

Thankfully at least they don't get up to sound the alarm! :)

It is part of the crew that follow your SRV around just out of detection range. brushing out the tracks so you don’t get flamed for messing up the environment.

What I find funny is that when you zap somebody, they still get the spinning star stunned icon on their hud popup. Or at least last time I checked.
