Non-lethal weapon(s) in Odyssey?

Somebody in the chat (not FD) replied to my enquiry that yes, there would be non-lethal weapons in Odyssey but that there were no details. Is that correct?

I think heists and various missions sound like great fun, but I role play to the point where I don't want to be casually murdering people if they could be stunned or subdued in some way.

Peace and love, brothers and sisters. :)

Depends on how lethal non-lethal actually is, considering anything that penetrates or disables the suit functions is pretty much going to be as lethal as shooting someone in the face. With enough handwavium it’s doable I’m sure though!

The best non-lethal option would be to, you know, not engage in raids. That way no one gets hurt or loses their job for failing to protect the base.

A soviet 23mm caliber less-lethal shotgun KS-23 (though called a carbine because of the rifled barrel). Able to use less-lethal rubber and plastic bullets and tear gas grenades (beside more lethal ammo).

I think, to get into the base, it should be possible to use also the sewer.. Solo, stealth and no kills can have chance to win too..

I mean... based on the mission playthrough video, ALL the weapons looked non-lethal. That one dude inside had no shield and still had to be shot multiple times. A 17th century dueling pistol would've been more effective.

In a lot of stealth games (Hitman, Splinter Cell, Dishonoured, MGS, etc) the non-lethal options typically involve chokeholds and whacking people over the head. Yet, these methods would still have a high chance of killing the victim or leaving them permanently brain-damaged. Even Tazers can and do kill people. The same goes for tranquillizers - you'd have to be very accurate with the dose to be effective enough to quickly knock the person out while avoiding overdose and the darts can still cause debilitating side effects.

That's why these methods have been re-branded to "less-than-lethal". Non-lethal would be something like Spiderman webbing or Hulk stopping foam-bombs.

I think we all realize that, but we do want the option in the game.

I don't want to intentionally kill pixelated abstractions but I have no problem with potentially turning them into lifelong vegetables or killing them accidentally? 🤷‍♀️
Queue sound "Because its a game!"
And because its a game, the vegatables and accidental death doesn't happen. So, yes, I'm fine with that.

As far as something that could plausibly stun somebody with an excellent possibility of not killing them (in vacuum or not) a good old fashioned belt of electricity, with a microprocessor fitted to the projectile to regulate dosage appropriate to the target physiology? :)

But with Elite era technology, I don't see a problem with a technologically unspecified, ranged stun weapon.

I doubt it.
FD also said ages ago (during the ED kickstarter IIRC, and maybe only once) that there would be non-lethal weapons for spaceship combat.
I guess if one considers a warp-drive interdiction as a non-lethal attack then yeah.
Or shooting just once could be 'non-lethal'.
Don't expect glue guns, nets, or stun weapons.
Only possibility I see right now is maybe flash-bang grenades.
