Is this a thing? Known bug perhaps? Occasionally my keyboard stops responding - in game that is. I'm on a PC. The kb still responds to win-D or ctl-alt-delete, or alt-tab and so on but as soon as I return to the game it is completely non-responsive. But the joystick still works. Odd. There seems to be no solution except to kill the client. When I restart the game all is fine. Are others experiencing this too? Only since 3.3.01.

Yes. I have this happen almost every time I play.
I found a bit of a workaround by attempting to force close elite. It will pop up a message asking if I really want to exit. If I click no, I can access the menu. From there, go into options -> controls and click apply. This rebinds all the keyboard commands.
I usually task kill the program. That's how I deal with programs I want to stop using.
I had this happen many times yesterday. The keyboard stopped responding while selling cartography data and accessing other station's windows. Interestingly, I could hit the enter key and whatever dialog selection was highlighted would open, but that's the only thing that worked. I couldn't even hit escape to quit the game. The only way I could regain keyboard functionality in Elite was to task kill Elite and restart the game.

I read in a previous thread that there is a solution/workaround for this. I tried it and it worked for me - no more keyboard lock-ups.
Go into Controls - Mode Switches - and set the "Auto Focus on Text Input Field" to OFF.
