Newcomer / Intro Noob Diary: Learning to Fly

Poppin' my head in just to drop one of my favorite aphorisms of all time.

"Any landing you walk away from is a good landing. If you use the plane the next day? It's an oustanding landing." - Chuck Yaeger

Keep up the good work, Wargfoot.

You're so kind that I had to update my 'to do' list.

Update: 03/12
I can now successfully crash in the general vicinity of the landing pad.

Good performance...the dismount looks good...ohh, didn't quite stick the landing. Let's see how the judges score it.

9.6......9.8......9.7......9.9......9.7......8.6

Figures the Aldebaran Judge would score it low

Keep practicing...I am learning that a mouse doesn't have a really good dead zone. And that the Ship CAN spin in all 3 axis at the same time...maybe even 4....Where's the bloody Dramamine... ;)

Yeah, I have an odd sense of humor.

Carry On Commander! o7

I would be all for FA-OFF if it had a hybrid mode where it kept the rotational stabilizaton. I get better control over my rotation with FA-ON than FA-OFF. For now, I am mastering the required thumbstick, rudder pedal, and throttle mixing to do FA-OFF-type maneuvers with FA-ON.

Tried a little FAoff combat work last night at a High Sec Resource site...This consisted of very short periods of Assist Off with me pogo'ing all over the place with the nose of my ship. The mouse just isn't dealing well with the FAoff. I was trying to do quick turns and flips to stay on the target's Six...but as I was porpoising all over the place, by the time I would get the nose settled down, the target was flying off in a different direction again...Thank god the Sec Boys were there to keep them occupied...While 275K for a rebuy isn't a deal breaker, it is at least one good shipping run to make back...And being ReGen'ed into a new body just feels wierd...Like putting on new clothes you haven't washed yet. They fit okay, but just don't have that broken in feel yet.
