And what you expected from online game..humans in action :D

Go to Solo or Pirvate - learn game and then if want some anarchy online action go back to Open ;)

Also if you want some PVP area action try CQC

So, I'll bite. I bought a new account and started fresh "as a noob" so to speak. I didn't cut away straight away to my usual haunt, instead sticking around where I started, doing missions nearby. I hung round for about a week, and ran into two actual players total. My mate also got the game recently, a "proper noob" if you will,, and he instantly came to work and mentioned about being "ganked" by other players. Thankfully he's pretty observant, and after some questions we discovered that it wasn't other players, just an NPC.

Soooo, if noobs really are getting ganked constantly, I have no idea where...

A good idea, maybe below the rank Competent?
What would work though?
Suggestions...

I'd suggest a drop in ranking as well as heavy drop in standing with local authorities if the commanders rank is at dangerous or above and s/he kills a "Harmless" commander in a sidewinder.

You may well be right Jmanis, after all when i was i noob i didn't know my ass from my head let alone find out who just zapped me.

There is a solo option. And yeah there are d bags in every game that do this kind of thing. Just make some cash in solo get a ship and leave the noob areas that are getting trolled.

You can also join groups that purely pve like Mobius and what not. It is kinda like open but purely people who want to avoid pvp altogether but play with people.

Doing this you are killing your gameplay and joining the cowering commander corps. You will be just fine, adapt, overcome!

Another thing, my ship is as agile as a pregnant brick.
Any way to make it (FAR) more agile?
Since, it's virtually impossible to keep an NPC enemy in my crosshair, they speed around much faster than I can turn...?
You won't do it with pitch alone. To turn fast you need to use vertical thrusters (and boost) as well. Also, keep the throttle in the blue zone for maximum manoeuvrability
.

I only play in open guys, no problem with gankers, I do not do anything with other players though I see them fairly often, just occasional friendly chat.

Listen to my warning though commanders - the moment you start to put any restrictions and penalties for any kind of player behaviour you will KILL Elite Dangerous. Do not, I repeat - Do not, do that!

Forums always were full of crying about ganking and in game, it is not common.

Thx for the spelling correction, and no, it's still out of context.
Survival of the fittest relates to the capacity of a species to adapt to changing environments, not to the ability of an individual to be a bully
But hey, 3rd time lucky maybe ?
Also, funny how "remember it's only game" only ever is slapped into the face of those at the receiving, and not the other party.

I really do not get the source of your ire - I made an analogy. Argue that this analogy is false if you like but leave out the personal stuff please.

But to your argument.
The noob is the species and the bully is the predator. It is upto the noob to adapt to the bully by moving faster, moving at quieter times, paying more attention to what's on their six and getting the hell out of Dodge. This is survuval of the fittest.

And yes it is only a game and in that game there are absolutely no rules or mechanics to prevent this kind if griefing.

Note that I am not supporting griefing at all.

If it makes you feel better think of Griefers as Reavers. They are a fine sci-fi tradition and one we should embrace wherever possible with a firm hand.

Just to clarify, if you are being interdicted and just killed by anyone, NPC or CMDR, they are not pirates - they are murderers, which is still a valid game choice. Pirates will try to steal cargo from you, murderers will just kill you. Whether a person likes it or not they are valid game choices and one has to put up with it. Welcome to anonymous internet gaming where your actions do not have consequences.

And just for the record, I mostly play in Mobius to avoid PvP; it’s not my cup of brown joy. However I recognise it is allowed and people will do it.

Hi mate,, feel yer pain. But it is hard to describe how big an area you have to play in, it really is.

I did a trip to SAG A (centre of Milky Way) and didn't rush. I played a few hours every day looking around and scanning stuff. Getting there and back took me well over a month of REAL time playing a few hours a day. I think my total Ly travelled was about 65k Ly. Thats nothing btw.... I was just reading about a cmdr who just got back after a 400k Ly round trip,, months..

Now although inhabited space is a tiny percentage of that (less than 1%?) it is still huge. My homebase is not far from the home sys of one of the power play leaders (about 35Ly) and unless I go directly to that sys I see someone about once a month and I always say hello because it's rare. With a well equipped ship I can get back into "crowded" space in no time at all but I don't do community stuff so I don't need or wan't to really.

Just trying to convey the size, this isn't like other pc gaming experiences, there are open sandbox worlds, and then there is Elite..

Go find somewhere for yourself, get strong, go back and kick butt, or not, choice is yours, but above all,, enjoy...;)

Whilst I don't disagree with the analogy the upshot is 100% of players in solo/pg's survive (well a 100% of those that can work out how dumb NPC's are) so ultimately solo and private groups will become the dominant race. Nothing wrong with that but that's the upshot. The fittest survival technique is solo/pg's.

I bought a second account the other day, and after reading a lot of posts about 'noob killers' on this forum I was expecting to run into a lot of PvP around Eravate/Kremainn etc...

So I played in my new account for a couple of nights, just trading and smuggling for credits around the starter systems, and despite seeing lots of commanders on the radar... nothing, not one player interdiction in about 8 hours of gamplay.

Therefore I think the whole 'Eravate griefers' thing has been overly-exaggerated by some on this forum, the area is fine most of the time.
