Noob question here...how do i get to Boepp UE-Q e5-2104 system

So I've only just properly got into Elite Dangerous this last two weeks and am really enjoying a finished game... (given up on Star 5htizen for now)

I'm trying some trade at the moment and have got a Type 6 i think it is...anyway I was looking to get some Meta-Allows and websites suggest they are available in the Boepp UE-Q e5-2104 system.

Only, I am currently at Sinclair City, in the LFT 1594 Nobles System, and the distance between here and my ultimate destination is huge!! Am i supposed to take real life 100 days to get there or something? Or am i missing faster travel than my 14ly Jump Drive will allow at one time?

Thanks

Have you plotted a route in the system map? What is the distance you would need to travel? (I'm in Colonia currently so can't check it effectively)

If you have a fuel scoop fitted you'd have no issue with the T6 running out of fuel, and if just 'honking' the systems you are passing through instead of doing a full FSS you can easily "honk, scoop & jump" both ways, a DBX with "A" rated FSD would get you better range for not a lot of credits, but you will still have to travel the distance both ways.

(also check that you are not on 'economical' route plotting - that could leave you doing 100's of jumps!)

Thanks Rat Catcher and Factabulous...looks like i'm way out my league and understanding on all of this...

Out of interest, how long would it take me then to travel the distance, it says its a long way away...i'm not going to bother now, but interested to know...

16K LY ... Alec will be along to tell you under 2 hours ... :)

Depends on your jump range - around 1 minute per jump. In a T6 ... a few hours :)

Even getting to Delphi or Maia (both in the Pleiades) will take a while in a T6 ;)

You should be able to tell as the route plotter can go that far in one go : number of jumps is around the number of minutes if you're not stopping to see the sights

Divide the distance by jump range and add 5% extra for route planning! 16KLy is around 1200 jumps in your current ship, each way! But it would be a fun trip if you wished to spend a week (a few hours each day) doing it as an 'exploration trip'!

@Factabulous pointed you in the right direction, fortunately they have their finger on the pulse of the game better than me, I'm a bit involved in the goings on in Colonia currently.

Just as an aside, anytime you want to buy stuff and do a search on EDDB or Inara, be sure to check if the seller is a Fleet Carrier rather than a normal station. Fleet Carriers are owned by individual CMDRs and they can move at any time. Also there's no guarantee that when you get there they will still be selling the item. I'd suggest you avoid them for now :)

Probably worth mentioning that there is a community goal currently running that requires meta-alloys, so now might not be the best time to get them if you wanted one to unlock Felicity Farseer (usually you can buy from a Carrier in Deciat, but they'd be cleaned out now).

Another possibility is to unlock Elvira Martuuk instead. You need to travel 300ly away from the start to trigger the invitation, and provide her with 3t of Soontill Relics from Ngurii.

Or you could go for the Guardian FSD Booster first. This requires a long trip out of the Bubble to Guardian space, and trundling around in an SRV (ground buggy) shooting stuff. There is a ferry megaship which runs from the Zende system out to Guardian space every Thursday morning (a pair of them swap places, so you'd have to wait for the next Thursday morning to get a ride back). You'd then have to buy a few more things from a station near Zende to unlock the Booster (which only has to be done once, you can then buy as many as you need). As an added bonus, Ngurii isn't far from Zende, and the ferry trip will easily meet Martuuk's unlock requirement.

Strap a SRV to that T6, google barnacle spots and go shoot stuff. Profit on current CG. Easy peasy🙂

My Type 6 does 50ly a jump, the sorts of distance we are talking here are serious explorer type distances, engineered A-rated FSD, Guardian FSD booster, lighter engineered modules etc, there's a lot that can be done to make your ship jump a lot further and that will take time to do, but even at 50ly per jump that's still a long way in a Type 6. It's not something you want to rush out and do on a whim. I am sure there are closer places to get meta-alloys, the experts here will tell you exactly where.

Thanks everyone that's all really helpful.

I think given how new I am to the game, and a lot of what's being said I don't truly understand, like what the specific ship parts do etc..I'm best learning all that first before heading off into the galaxy on some foolish self-created mission!

And i'm having what I'd consider some good returns with Polymers at the moment, +200k profit per run, which to me sounds pretty good, given the run takes about 4minutes!

O7 commander and always feel free to ask question. There's always folks willing to help here or on the newcomers page in the features of elite section. Watch out on videos as they can be out of date and usually assume your running a maxed out "meta" (no relation to meta alloys) ship. Here's some basic info on meta alloys for when ur ready:

Best of luck on where ever your journey may take you.

Thanks Horse372 - i'll check all of that out.

Seems like there is so much to this game beyond the basics I understand at the moment...looking forward to finding out more...once i've done a few more trade runs and built up some balance, any recommendations as to where to go and what to do next? I quite like trading and was looking to upgrade to the 16m cargo hauler, but haven't really researched it all...

My suggestion would be to build up some credits doing trade runs or missions (running goods or data). Doing missions will increase your reputation with the factions you're doing them for and you'll get higher payouts for completing them as your reputation goes up.

This guide is pretty solid for Horizons info and was a good primer for what's out there for me when i started:

Thanks so much for this, just been checking out that guide and it's so helpful! This game is vast! Can't wait to get more into it, and that guide is really going to help. I know i'm quite late to the party with this game, but i'm absolutely loving it!

Echoing my old mate Horse here - plenty of people around to help out. If something seems too much for your experience, it is worth asking, like you did here. This is a mickey take.

There are so many things to learn and experience mate, but as long as people don't come here and throw a tantrum about something, people are very helpful and the worst you'll get is a bad Dad joke!

If you see someone throw a tantrum about something silly though, do feel free to join in! ;)

If you are only after the Meta Alloy, they can be found a lot closer to the bubble than that. Head down to the Pleiades to a Barnacle or Thargoid ground structure (there is one in Delphi) and harvest some MAs there for free. That's about 300LY each way.

Thanks again everyone that's helped me along the way, great advice, and a really welcoming community O7.

Have had the best time lately, doing trade runs, getting a new Type 7 Cargo ship, now running to get an Anaconda to go out into deep space and explore, maybe get my name logged to a few undiscovered stars.

Absolutely loving this game, got some custom soundtracks working too, Star Trek collections, epic.

Looking forward to seeing more along the way.

Awesome game, and i've yet to plug in my VR, can't wait to try that as well!
