Noob Question

Ok I'm a pretty new player and I just upgraded my ship and I bought 2 Economy passenger cabins but when I go for a transport mission of 3 passengers it won't let me because it wants to but all 3 in the same cabin. Really???? WTH..

Yes cmdr, these passengers don't like to be split up and don't like sharing, although they are happy to share when being rescued from a burning station, guess I would too!

Yep, VIP passengers have to be housed together and will not share their room.
Bulk passengers do not care and will sit wherever there is space.

You can spot VIP passengers by the crown icon in the mission title.

To clarify the above: yes, VIP pasenger missions (the ones with a name in the mission title and a little crown next to their logo on the mission screen) cannot be split across cabins, even if the cabins are the same class. They're travelling with an entourage, and must all be sitting in the same room, with no bulkheads separating them.

Bulk passenger missions (no name, no crown) can be split across cabins, if the cabins are the same type. But if you had one Economy cabin and one First cabin, then no, you can't fill up both cabins in one mission, even if there's technically room.

For example, suppose your pax ship has space for two size-4 cabins, and you install two size 4 Economy cabins (room for 8 people in each), then you could take a bulk mission of up to 16 people. But if you had installed one economy (8 pax) and one First (3 pax), then you cannot accept a bulk pasenger misison for 9, 10 or 11 people. Bulk pasengers apparently have a strong sense of "fairness" and don't want some of their group to travel in luxury while the rest of them travel in cattle class. If you're going to bump your Economy-class passengers up to First, you must either bump all of them, or none of them.
