Okay, beta or not, this game sucks, and sucks loud. I don't care what anyone says. This is impossible. I just spent an hour to make a lousy 800 credits, and with a cargo hold full of stuff, I just happen (what a freakin' shock) to get killed by a pirate when I'm 2 feet from my destination. The whole "interdiction" thing is just so stupid, and is only designed to cheat the player. You actually get pulled out of hyperspace?! LOL!

You have little or no recourse as a beginner in reacting to the multitude of unfair and ridiculous challenges, such as making money. This game is a total set-up, and only serves to frustrate and abuse the player. You have no chance. You can't fight. You can't run. I think the only people good at this game are shut-ins who just play this game every hour of every day, or they cheat.

I'm outta here. What a colossal waste of money, and a total scam. Deleting it from my computer. Think I'll play Star Citizen. Think I'll play chess. Think I'll play anything. Man, this game is a b*llbuster extraordinaire. Get killed, start over. Get killed, start over. Get killed, start over. What a joke. I've had a beginner ship with 1000 credits for so long I think it's going to be permanent.

I played Anarchy Online for years. I played EVE Online for years. I can't tell you how many other games I've played. None busted b*lls like ED. People are going to see it for what it is the minute they try to play, and they're going to ask for their money back. This game is almost assuresdly going to have a small and devoted following, true, but it will never make money or have a large player base. Guaranteed. I'd bet anything on it.

It isn't helpful, either, that everybody here just sucks up, and raves about how great this game is, and how their lives have changed, and the game is an epiphany which actually made them see God... No way. Terrible, unwieldly, slow, unfair, and stupid game.

You could try not trading. #YOLO and discover there's more to the Beta than just A > B. I was in the same frame of mind last weekend, now I'm enjoying testing new stuff every few days.

I've PM'd you some hints.

The game might just not be for you since you so apparently suck at it.

You get 500 Credits for a single kill in the Federal Distress combat zone. 4 measly kills and you can buy another laser. If you keep an eye on the radar for enemy human players and run if attacked making a couple of thousand credits in an hour even with the starter ship and loadout is really not that much of a challenge.

I'd give you a couple of more helpful tips but from the tone of your post I'm not sure I'd want someone like you in the ED community. So, good riddance, Sir.

If you get interdicted and you're not ready for a fight you must bravely run away!
4 pips to engine -> boost -> boost -> engage supercruise.

He's obviously intelligent enough to write the OP and frustrated enough to spend a few minutes doing that. So I suggest gentle encouragement and some Earl Grey Hot. :D

The thing you need to appreciate Mac is that the Beta is not intended to be representative of the final product. There are a ton of features not yet implemented. Suck it up, stand it like a man .. and .. give some back.

You should be able to make creds with the info I sent. If not you may have problems with your input method? Keyboard and mouse is a bit hardcore for many. Do you have a joystick or a HOTAS? Are you aware of VoiceAttack etc?

What were your expectations when you signed up anyway? How does the Beta not meet those - is it just frustration at not being able to make credits? If so I can totally empathize with you. I almost flounced myself before changing the way I play and going more toward the pew and less dwelling on the stew.

I got the same impression as the OP the first couple of times I was interdicted.

However, with experience, I have found you can always escape by putting all pips in engine and boosting as much as possible.
Though now I wait to see how many contacts pop up on the radar, if two or less then I am happy to see what they are & mby fight them. Can still escape with shields intact at this point.
(You can just about take on 2 NPC cobra with the stock sidewinder)

I do get insta killed by other players though.

Also I only have 2k cash cause I make docking mistakes occasionally & loose all cargo and cash.

Those are the breaks, I happen to like thus level of difficulty. Cruising through a game without effort is one of my bugbears with today's games.

I can only hope you persevere.


You can always sack off the trading and just go shoot stuff in the conflict zones, basically no risk of loosing cash on that as you can just keep plugging away with stock ships if you want.

Hope the game gets better for you.

Sad but you can make of it what you will... Personally, I'm liking it. Yeah there's bugs, it's in development. But your post is just trolling. You could have just stopped testing it, stopped coming on the forums, and left yourself with some dignity, but sadly most people will now just think you're a whining troll with nothing better to do with your life.

I spent about an hour total on Friday last trying to get off the sun lol. Yeah that was punch the dog sort of rage. Until someone pointed out that perhaps I should throttle back upon entering supercruise. Derp. :eek::D

I am sorry you feel that way OP. I know it can be frustrating to go from feeling uber to feeling helpless but, this game takes practice.

You can out fly any of the interdictions, you just put all pips to engines and boost away from them until you can get your frameshift drive back online and head for safety, you don't have to fight any of them unless you want to.

Of course if you are not using the power management system then things will be much harder.
