Horizons nope

i'm (redacted) done. i'm not ranking up in any faction and i'm not doing any more missions or interacting with any more NPCs. Doing a rank up mission for the federation and trying to get trade data. I'm in a combat speced AspE and I know how to fly and fight with and without flight assist but I get jumped by 2 eagles and i'm dead before I can even take the shields off one and i'm not missing shots and keeping my target in my gun sights. The NPCs are (redacted) stupid and OP and i'm done trying to defend this (redacted). Oh, and best part is that even tho i'm only competent rank every (redacted) NPC is master and dangerous rank. EVERY npc.

Edit: I redacted all the bad words >.<

Wow, okay.

I guess you just need a bit of a cooldown.
And also to realize that Asp isn't a combat vessel...

Yeah, sorry about the wording of in the OP. I have stopped and cooled down.
And I know it's not a combat ship but when I have a 6A shield and they can get through my shield in less then 2 seconds in eagles then something is broken. My shields were down in 2 seconds. before I could even scan the first target.

Perfect vessel for recovering trade data though!

OP, I assume you mean a "salvage trade data 4/4 mission"?

If I'm guessing right, you probably picked up a mission above your rank, and those ambushers are pretty vicious.

Try it like this -- equip two 3A collector controllers, take 8 limpets with you. Assign your collectors to trigger 1 & 2.

On your way to the target, plot the closest system on your nav (plot it with a waypoint).

When you drop into the USS, make sure you have 4 pips to shields, and quickly target trade data cans while you pop limpets at them.... target, pop, target, pop... etc. Once your limpets are out, open cargo hatch. Once they are all in and you get a mission complete message, stow weapons, retract hatch, and low or high wake out as you see fit.

If you do it right, you'll be in and out of that USS in 15 seconds.

Good luck.

Thank you very much for the tips. i'll give them a try.

Btw, I'm not saying Asp is a BAD ship.
She's actually good but more at running away from stuff.

Here's me, dealing with a pirate. Just for inspiration:

I tried an ASP ex. and lost it on the first run. Went back to Cobra.
When you outfit a ship, it seems to indicate a good setup. But no... It doesn't do what you hope for. The only prob with a Cobra is it's weak gun loadout.
Now MY question. I can get a Viper mark 4. It is slower than the Cobra, but please tell me if it is a better well defended small trader.
Please ..........

Yup, no. Tried like 3 more times and every time no matter if I fight or try and run as soon as something jumps in I get killed. It's always the same too. Shields down in 2-5 second and then my powerplant is offline and nothing left to say about that. The AI are OP and you can take your missions and shove them. i'm done. Would refund if I had not of bought the game when it first came to steam.

Yes. Slower and sluggier. Same jump range, same number of jumps per fuel tank.
Better shields, better armour, better sound, better looks.

You're welcome. :D

Alright, kilowolf, post your loadout (coriolis.io) and your rank.

We'll solve this...

we always do those missions as a wing, either kill them together or it gives you extra time for the cops to show up. Doing them solo in an asp is hard, but even one more asp (i have done them with 2 asps) can make all the difference.
My asp load out is 2 med multi cannons and 4 small seeker missile for the quick kills.
FIGHT ON COMMANDER!

What Vindelanos said is how to do these missions without having to fight anyone. I've done these in an AspX, you just have to be very quick. If you don't pick up all the commodities the first time, you can run and come back after collecting 1 or 2. This mission USS will automatically respawn as will all the cargo but you only have to pick up what remains to complete the mission. In theory, the USS should respawn when you're in supercruise but I found I had to jump to another system and back for them to re-appear.

Did you just have the one mission though? I found that with multiple stacked salvage missions, I would hop back into SC, the USS's would keep spawning and before you know it you have picked up the remaining x2 as well, without jumping into another system....

I simply gave up and pulled a trade mission for my upgrade. I think I might have just pulled a bugged mission the first time. And I have tried another one of these mission of the same rank since only not my rank up mission and it was much much.... much easier. I guess I just suck at fighting now. i'll stick with hauling from now on.

On a side note the skimmer missions are very fun and I had a blast running around dodging shots from 2 vipers while killing skimmers.

I honestly think it's just an RNG thing. Sometimes those USSs just refuse to spawn in a reasonable amount of time.

Yeah, man, skimmer missions are a hoot :) I really hope that 2.2 comes with more surface attack missions.
