Nope

Odd really, for someone who signed up to the forum ten years ago. There must be some explanation.

That is an interesting point, but this does imply they’ve not been playing all that long:

Got burned by Odyssey, refunded through steam. Picked the game up on sale after a couple of years.

And I’ve been playing far less than 10 years and have been blown up by the station more times than I can remember and knocked FA off more than I can remember. seems an odd reason for a veteran player to rage quit.

I've seen posts like this before. It seems like every time a feature is updated or something new is added to the game, there will always be at least one forum user who wakes up from a long slumber to provide a single barrage of churlish invective, before falling silent once again.
Some real-world PP2.0 undermining? 🤯. I do hear that Star Citizen is due to be released any day now ... honest.

Got burned by Odyssey, refunded through steam. Picked the game up on sale after a couple of years. Logged in, found squad. Flew into high res site for easy credits. Teamed up on wanted npc Anaconda with a couple of security ships. Got hit with something that took shields away and made my ship fly weird. Looked through modules and chat log to see if I could find out what was going on. Nothing. Did repair, fixed 0 modules. Magically managed to get ship into super cruise after minutes spend trying to figure out what align ship vector means. Proceeded to try and dock to repair with ship still flying funny. Got caught on something inside station, got blown up by station security feet away from my landing pad after I was deemed loitering. Still dont know what caused the initial damage to make my ship fly weird. All modules were 90%+ and couldnt find anything in chat log. Dont care anymore, Ill never touch your game again. Playing this game is like trying to have a conversation with someone who doesnt speak complete sentences.
Sound like your landing gear clipped into station, all needed to was re-deploy landing gear, it always forces hitbox to "unplug", far as for incident at landing pad.

As for ship "flying funny" it sounds like FAOFF as turned on by mistake. Well, thats how we pros flying, but sure it takes some time to learn it.

Not sure what game OP played, but I like the sound of it. Actually modelled damage affecting the flight of the ship. FDev make it so.
This can actually happen in Infinity: Battlescape. Getting damaged can disable your flight assist - including the rotational stabilization that normally stays on when you manually turn FA off in that game.
Elite Dangerous regular FAOFF is actually a damage effect in Infinity...
However OP probably wasn't playing that game because that type of damage usually auto-repairs pretty quickly there.

As low the original post is on the Bazmeson scale (no friend, no discussion at length, no nothing), I too find the idea of having a weapon (or engineering effect) causing flight assist to fail an interesting concept, and would love to see it in ED.

That would be cool. It might encourage me to start flying FA off again too!

My favourite thing about The Tech Demo is when thrusters get damaged and you have to fight the ship to finish off your bounty and get safely to a station for repairs. - Unexpected handling issues are great fun.

The mandalay sometimes goes nuts if you have an advanced docking computer installed. It's happened a couple of times in stations, but it's much worse trying to land on a planet.

I've turned it off. It's always been useful to throttle back and go for a brew or to the bathroom, but if it can't be trusted to land unattended, it's worthless.

The default bind for flight assist is Z. It's easy to hit it if you are using WASD for thruster control.

This is remarkably accurate. The OP last posted in 2015 in a thread complaining about the lack of content. I had previously replied suggesting that the poster of that thread play the BGS. Our OP's response to that was "why bother?"

The most satisfying system transits I ever did in Frontier Elite 2 were when various thrusters had been shot out in combat - on one occasion I had to do several combat encounters and a station approach and docking without reverse thrust, so the game became a 3 degrees of freedom version of Lunar Lander 😁

Does anyone actually have the bazmeson post (assuming it's a royal mint ragequit)?
Was before my time i never saw it
Here ya go, it was the most magnificent and brief ragequit the modern internets have seen. They're a legend, we can all just hope to ragequit at a 1/3 of that level.

I am sorry to say this but my friend and who have both played elite since it very first started will no longerplay this wonderful game if it isn't fixed in June.
We have talked at length about this and this our conclusion.

If it was indeed FA-off rearing it’s ugly head then they should go into the bindings and unbind it change it from toggle to hold.
That way if they let go things should settle down.

Even more fun it causes flight assist to lock into the opposite mode when hit so if you were FA-off you get stuck in FA-on and vice versa, can be fixed when docked or by reboot/repair.

Not tried it on the Mandalay and the ships with ADC all have Autoland switched off.

Even more funny is that they still play the game, just look them up in the social menu (though I don't know about the friend). :D
