Not relying on keyboard / mouse when using the Galaxy map

It makes things a bit less "immersive" when I have to use the keyboard and Mouse everytime I open the map.
All the more for VR users (I do have the Oculus Rift, but in SDK0.8 version, so I'll have to pass on the VR in E for now...), who should only use their HOTAS and that's all.

I would have at least 2 suggestions that would help a lot:
- be able to select a system by selecting the red mission icon. Maybe I'm not using it properly, but I find this icon almost useless because of its 2D style in a 3D environment: you don't know exactly where is the system this icon relates to. Selecting directly a system by clicking it with the round-cursor would help a lot !

- when you open the system map from a mission description, it should automatically pre-select the system this missions takes place in. Thus, you should with just one click on the "plan itinerary" button, plan the route linked to this mission.

With those two, I guess I would rarely have to type the name of the system (which is a burden especially when the name is as long as "Alrai Sector QT-I a9-3"!) to find my way, and that would be highly appreciated.

You might wanna rebind the controls for the map then, I got everything on my PS3 pad and the only time I need the mouse is for getting rid of the "you're the first to discover" dialog because someone messed up the controller usage for that one and the keyboard is only used for entering a system name in the map search.
Aside that am I using both maps completely keyboard and mouseless o.o actually the whole game, not just these two xD

I also don't really understand how finding the target system for a mission is troublesome for you, just go to the left panel, select the mission, then select Open Galaxy Map and it will focus on the target system of that mission.

As a VR user I was unable to use the Galaxy Map for a long time, but they did manage to put in some fixes so it is possible now to navigate the galaxy and system map by rebinding your controller/HOTAS buttons to the Galaxy Map functions (As mentioned in the previous post). I use the Open Galaxy Map function on missions or as most of the time I just open the Galaxy/System Map and navigate by my HOTAS. I have no problem at all using the Galaxy or System map now.
It still could use some VR love though as for most of the game ;-)

I have a couple of questions on the topic of using the galaxy map without resorting to the mouse (I'm using a HOTAS joystick).

1) having opened the galaxy map, how do I get the input focus into the system search box in order to then invoke a system name paste (or VA dictation) macro? Currently the only way I've found is to use the mouse or train VA how to use the mouse.

2) having got a system selected in the galaxy map such that the little popup menu (with the target/route-plot/system-map/buy-trade-data icons on it) has appeared, how can I use the joystick to navigate and select those icons? (currently my thumbstick, which was my first thought, is panning the galaxy map around).
